I just realized something. Uncle was the most helpful of the whole gang. When people looked down at Uncle they were realizing they were very productive in comparison which made them feel better about themselves and when they still felt like shit but didn't feel like arguing or getting in a fight they could insult and threaten Uncle and be guaranteed he'd take it all without trying to fight it out. He was a walking ( or sleeping ) morale booster. This scene proves another thing. John kept Uncle because of Jack. John was aware that his relationship with Jack was tense. He wanted to preserve it. In this scene, Uncle was the perfect outlet for John because he could avoid blaming his son, putting the blame on Uncle instead!

Sean said "If I was in your gang, I'd never laugh again" and John said "It's no laughing matter" and it was all absolutely hilarious. Afterword I "greeted" Bill and Arthur said "So you're gonna run your own gang one day, huh?" and Bill said something like "Yes... One day..." That line hits different for an RDR1 original.

_"Take a gamble that love exists and do a loving act."_ - Sister, RDR2. What I love about the Sequel/Prequel is that we find out that some of the old gang may have been crooks, but they were also weren't all bad. Sean, Lenny, Mac, Charles, and of course, Arthur... we spent the first game hunting down the old gang without really knowing much about them. The sequel gave us a lot of time to see their best and worst, plus also showed us that most of John's best friends in that gang were already dead, including the man who was the closest he had to a brother. Giving your life so that someone else might live is a great theme of the series and shows how John and Arthur were trying to change, and had at least some principles in their hearts.

It’s mentioned while John is at the ranch that Jack likes to sneak out on his own and do his own thing. He also fantasizes about the outlaw/gunslinger life too and obviously that’s worrying to Abigail because he grew up around that already and was trying to set him down a different path but like any other teenager he was acting out. And when the ranch got attacked and his father died you can only imagine his behavior only got worse and it seems like by the epilogue Jack had been out getting stronger and better with a gun because now he’s determined to be an outlaw to avenge John

Yea. I REALLY wish Rockstar remade RDR1 with better graphics and improved play mechanics lifted from RDR2. I know GTA is popular, but wasn’t RDR2 rated one of the best games of all time? There’s a whole group of people who never got to experience RDR1. It’s a bummer.

They were developing remasters for RDR1 and GTA 4. Their parent company TakeTwo got frustrated with them remastering after the response to the GTA Trilogy remaster. So all effort and resources are on GTA 6 now. The remasters for RDR1 and GTA 4 have been shelved but will happen.

This is especially incredible after RDR2 to me because you got to see just how intense the trials and tribulations John and Abigail went through to get to this point. You saw how a charismatic leader gets a bunch of broken and mislead people to band together and do his bidding and their realization of that fact. You get to see the violence and direction the gang started in and the way they just didn’t feel right about it. Just incredible they’re able to portray this and more in a video game that we get to be a part of.

Wish there was a remake or remaster of this game for current consoles. The Red Dead Redemption games are my favorites of all time. The world feels alive, more so than any other game I've played, including the GTA series. The voice acting is superb in places. The story and narrative of redemption and the encroachment of civilization in the last days of the old west, while maybe over bloated sometimes, is really well done. The conclusion of each game along with how well they connect is also great. And of course the gameplay is great. Truly these games are a work of art, in my opinion. And I don't say that lightly. I'm pretty picky when it comes to videogames.
