spoilers I just got done with my first playthrough of Red Dead Redemption 2 and I think that The Epilogue and American Venom is EXTREMELY underrated! The transition from Arthur Morgan to John Marston is great. High Honor or Low Honor - This ending is satisfying.
If you liked it - please watch it the entire way through as that helps the channel the most.
Also, like subscribe and comment if you liked this longer video or you would like me to do another type of video.

I played RDR2 as a prequel to RDR1 knowing nothing about the plot besides what the name implied. I genuinely thought Abigail was the traitor because of how they mentioned her getting away in Saint Denis. Just seemed too convenient. I thought she had a deal with the law to keep her and Jack safe at the cost of the gang. And Micah seemed, as you said, way too obvious. Obviously doesn’t make sense if you know the plot of the first game but it made sense with no other context.

I love how the whole game you're denied every chance at a satisfying confrontation with any of the main villains. Colm, Cornwall, Bronte and even Milton get unsatisfying deaths that really just leave you disappointed and hollow feeling. But it all changes in the final confrontation with Micah. He's the only one that you get to personally pump full of lead for what he's done and it beautifully releases all that satisfaction that you were denied throughout the whole game.

Bravo Sherlock… but for real tho… I can’t fkn imagine that Dutch couldn’t put the pieces together all along, and that he trusted Micah… who even in mentality is evil and reckless and only joined like a month before the Blackeater gig, he trusted this obvious problem maker more than his so called son Arthur who he basically brought up, and who was always loyal to him. Greed got the best of Dutch.
@gambinobah8864
@gambinobah8864 2 ай бұрын
@@bonecrushra.k.a.improwise753I think it’s a mixed of greed but also Dutch probably relating to Micah in the way of his dark thoughts. Dutch for all of his so called good deeds was nothing more than a thief and a cult leader trying to play hero and revolutionary. While he might have helped these people who were considered outcast in society he also held them back as we’ve seen during the epilogue with people like Mary Beth, Tilly, Pearson, and John. Imagine the happy life Arthur may have gotten if he wasn’t so loyal to the gang and the man who raised him. Imagine what a smart man like Lenny could have become if he didn’t die at a young age because of reckless people like Dutch. Dutch was the man who helped comfort sadie, he was the man who saved Javier when he escaped Mexico and was starving near death and he did raised two orphan children but in the end when shit hit the fan like it always was going to with the lifestyle he was living he chose to triple down and endanger the lives of all those people he once showed care for. The man Dutch had so many chances to help these people but instead used them as pawns for a vision of America that was never going to become true. He’s a deeply flawed man and it’s why he’s one of my favorite villains in fiction. His story is one that shows what happens when you continue to flirt with the darkness inside of you and what happens when that darkness you tried to hid finally manifest into a living being like Micah.

The epilogue is the best part of the game, and critical to John as the central protagonist of the Redemption duology. Arthur and Jack are more than meaningful aspects to his life - along with developments of their own - but the John we knew from RDR1 was always there. Less refined and more hotheaded in his younger years, letting his doubts and Dutch's gaslighting cause him to be flagrant and irresponsible, but everything good that we love about him was there and it's good to see those qualities come into fruition. I respect the story's willingness to knock characters down a peg and make things more complicated.

My dad played this game and 100% it. For years he told me to play and I never did. I kept being overwhelmed by the size of it so I never gave it a fair chance until 3 weeks ago. With that said, I beat it in those 3 weeks and played it every single night whenever I put my son to bed. I was so immersed I would call my dad the next day and ramble on about how amazing this game is and he would give me spots to go to and we’d talk about the story and just how one of a kind this game is. I’ve always been super close with my dad but this game bonded my dad and I even further and I’ll never forget that. Thank you, Rockstar.

I agree, the epilogue is peak writing and fiction and every time I see or hear someone talk negatively about it in any variety of way I can’t help but wonder if they even played the same game as me. These people must have far too shallow of thinking if they can’t appreciate the pure bliss that is the epilogue after all the hardship the rest of the game was. And it was damn earned! Love this vid. John is my favorite character and honestly a big reason why I dared to get married at 21 myself, it means a lot to me. The game and my relationship that is. Thanks for this trip down memory lane.

What’s awesome is John’s sentence “to be the man you deserve.” Which makes me realize how John understands the kind of man Arthur was. He knew there was something special about Arthur that Abigail loved knowing he never had that side. To be a real man on his own along with his family , he truly added so much to John’s character that makes me appreciate rdr1 way more and makes me feel so much more sorrow for his desire to return to this way of life after Ross makes him wipe the gang. He no longer wanted that life and wanted to keep being that man for Abigail. Man that breaks my heart

The Epilogue has some of the most standout moments in the game. Scaling the mountain mowing down Micah's gang as John's theme plays is probably one of the most memorable moments in gaming for me. My takeaway after playing it is that it's very good, but I don't necessarily want to play through it on subsequent games because by and large I enjoy playing as Arthur so much more. If you loved the base game, you owe it to yourself to play through it at least once.

I mean, for a majority of the epilogue, it is what Arthur sacrificed himself for, buying a ranch, building a house, escaping the outlaw life, and raising a family. All up into the last mission, that is, when he was blinded by vengeance.

SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER for those who haven’t played rdr 1 i think the ending of rdr 2 for me was kinda erie and bittersweet because like many others i already knew john’s fate one thing that i think people overlook that the story tries to tell is the cycle of violence vengeance is an idiots game john taking out micha and his whole gang puts him on Edgar Ross’s radar and is a decision that eventually kills him also is something that was essentially taught to jack which makes him continue this cycle of violence and he becomes what they tried so hard for him not to become

A nice little detail during the strawberry section with Cleet before going after Micah. While interrogating Cleet, if you look and listen closely, you can hear and see Charles talking to the townsfolk about who Cleet is, and his affiliation with Micah Bell. It’s such a small detail most miss but I love it so much, it just adds detail to such a small scene and shows you how much love and care rockstar had for the red dead series.

Ive always had an idea for Red Dead 3 since I finished 2, Sadie Adler is the main character and you go through her life after the end of 2, you see just how dark her life gets up until she hears about the death of John Marston and she goes to give her condolences to Jack and Abigail, eventually she hears about an outlaw using the Marston name and you find Jack not long after getting his revenge. This leads to Sadie giving her life for Jack so that he can live a proper life out of the outlaw lifestyle that plagued his father and the rest of the gang.

In most other games, something like the epilogue would have been paid DLC released for $30 a few months after the game released, and ironically enough, if rockstar had done that it would have sold like hotcakes and people would be satisfied since chapters 1-6 are a full story start to finish. Yet Rockstar went above and beyond by making it part of the standard game and experience. RDR2 felt like the game that kept giving during first playthrough.

Showing the contrast of life on the run in the gang vs. trying to settle down and be a family man. It definitely picks up. After the depressing and action packed Chapter 6 I really enjoy the Epilogue especially being in Pronghorn Ranch The simple tasks of milking cows, picking up horse and cow crap, birthing foals, fencing is pretty comforting I'm glad the Epilogue is long and doesn't end right away with John getting his ranch, married and end with a happily ever after 🤣 It took time for John to get his ranch mean time he worked hard for months until he felt like asking for help from Mr Gedes to put a good word to the bank for a loan Bounty hunting with Sadie was fun too During my first playthrough after Arthur's death I didn't really tear up like most fans did Yes I felt saddened and grief I just sat in silence in my dark bedroom staring at the screen as the sun rises and Arthur takes his last breath Cut to 8 years later we're now with John and Abigail bickering about finding a place to lie low having to drive the wagon to Strawberry then to Pronghorn to deliver it was simple and calming I did miss Arthur and felt kinda off playing as John Marston after a long journey with the Van Der Linde gang From Colter, Horseshoe Overlook, Clemens Point, Shady Belle, Guarma, Lakay Then Beaver Hollow The absence of Javier, Bill and Dutch knowing they're still out there was kinda sad knowing what happens in the first game I read the newspaper in game reading the part where Dutch was seen in Tall Trees is haunting Javier is in Mexico and Bill who knows where but he started his own gang now taking charge When it came time to hunt down Micah I honestly didn't care Sure it was satisfying to shoot Micah but the way he died didn't feel satisfying I wanted him to scream in agony after how much pain he's caused to everyone

The epilogue is amazing. I just finished it again there yesterday, and i have to say it's one of my favourite parts of the game. Its a wonderful cooldown after the darkness of the end of Arthurs story and it allows you time to visit some of the locations that arthur had impacted and see Johns reflections of that. Its brilliant. The end credits scenes also tie up what was happening between the first and second games.

Dutch saying that he's there for the same reason as John kind of confirms that he's there to kill Micah. Micah saying that all manner of folks are paying social calls these days confirms that Dutch had just recently arrived, likely with the money from Blackwater. I think Dutch used the money to lure Micah out to a remote location where he could kill him and either take over his gang. For the record though, I'm starting to have doubts whether or not Micah was actually a rat. It's too on the nose and too much doesn't make sense if he were the rat. I think Milton just lied to John about Micah being the rat thinking that he would let Arthur, Sadie and Abigail "slip away" and feed that bad intel to Dutch, causing the gang to collapse from lack of trust and infighting. I think the real rat all along was Abigail, because she's the only one that actually makes sense, and she stopped being an informant after Saint Denis because of what they did to Hosea. After that, Arthur was right... there was no need for a rat (anymore at least) because they'd gotten sloppier than the town drunk. So Micah was never a rat... just a scumbag.

I don't understand the people that wanted to push for Sadie being a romance option for Arthur. I think she's the best version of her she can be. First off, I don't think there was enough time for any romantic relation ship to form. Think of where she came from and how she lived. The Odriscoll's killing Jake basically taking her hostage even though they didn't know it at the time. Micah burning her house down. Learning the people who are taking care of you are in your mind the same as the ones that killed Jake. She was in a constant state of fear and paranoia more than likely. That one day one of them would kill her for example. Over the years Arthur, John Uncle and the girls over a long time brought her out of her shell. They always treated her as the person she was and is. When she came out she became a hardened, hardheaded and over protective sister willing to put her own life on the line. In the epilogue you can really see her reflect on her actions and her involvement with John. The very mission when John says it's his choice to go after Micah she says it's her decision whether John goes with her on more bounties or not. It was the reflection of how much danger she was really putting him in. She realized the stakes and how serious they were. Sadie in this moment had her very own redemption ark. From a hallowed maiden needing saving to a bloodthirsty killer to having her peace of mind again how ever small at the time it may be. In these moments you see that she is genuinely able to think about the results of her actions. In my opinion this caused her to make the hardest decision for her. That being to leave John alone and be on her own. She realized she's only going to get in the way of the life he wants and will only start creating more enemies trying to kill him. The way Sadie is now nothing will ever break the bond she has with John Abby Uncle and Charles and that is the best kind of love. A relationship would only weaken that bond. By the way the true traitor was Dutch himself. It was all his ego and not being able to accept the consequences of his actions. He kept drawing more and more attention to himself and personally I do think Micah talked. Though I think ultimately it was the attention Dutch brought onto the gang. The people close to him were telling him his ideas were bad and he didn't listen to the ones that were there from nearly the beginning. The ones who were his wise counsel so to speak. Micah fed into Dutch's delusions of a grand plan and told him everything he wanted to hear. Dutch cut everyone out who mattered and as he got more bold and brash he might as well have been a raid siren telling the world were the gang was. Another thought though... This is very likely an unpopular opinion though I think there is a chance that the dead loyalty they clinged onto is the traitor. If Arthur gave up Dutch I think there would have been a high chance of working something out for the rest of the gang. If he turned Dutch in there is a chance that he might have saved the majority of the gang. Milton really tried to reason with Arthur. He tried on many occasions to give the rest of the gang an out. He didn't mince words and he pretty much word for word I think on two occasions said "Arthur if you give me Dutch the rest of you can live." Even then in those moments if Milton wanted Arthur and the gang dead he could have just killed Arthur right then in and there. He walked right into the camp to give them a chance to surrender. They gave them that chance and the gang refused it only to have it end the way it did. That aspect of "loyalty" is potentially the rat everyone is looking for. The game goes on about how the loyalty was broken long ago and how it isn't there anymore. I think that is a good contender for who the rat is. "Sometimes the one's you are supposed to trust are the ones you shouldn't."

Speaking of underrated, Micah is actually a really underrated character. People only hate his character because he was the rat. For one he was a badass gunslinger, and also the way rockstar made his personality was amazing. The early signs that he was remorseless was great, and once you get to the end it all collides together and makes sense.
