It's nice seeing so many of the buildings getting cleaned up. I really enjoyed the process of educated replacement in this one. With fewer examples of these structures to go off of, we had to start interpreting.
@JayBe1992Ай бұрын
I like how your enterpretations of these buildings are reverse engeineering them back to the vanilla original stuctures that the devs destroyed up for the content, as opposed to how other channels overdo it, and take more creative liberty with block pallets

When you finsih the project you should compare the structers that were rebuilt by you with the "offical one's" using structure blocks to spawn them.

What if the skulk was meant to be in the ancient city. Not the wild overgrowth we find the place in, kind of like an aggressive crop or ornamental plant left to go wild. We know that redstone components were used with skulk to open the main “ redstone lab” . ( avoiding the Mojang show and tell for mechanics ) like the city was built around the skulk to monopolize on the resources. The wool walkways in the original structures point to the inhabitants having some understanding of how NOT to activate the shriekers.

Now my brain is not gonna be able to stop pondering back stories for the dark oak tower. - My current favourite is that a Pillager and a Shepard Villager fell in love. When their respective families found out, they were banished. They found the ancient city while fleeing from their murderous Pillager relatives. The little tower is what they built in the ruins they found. The Pillager had been a fighter and not one of their builders or architects - The blue wool is what the shepherd was carrying when they fled and what they used to patch the holes in the carpeting. At first in their new home they were still sneaking and being quiet as they’d become used to being from their time on the run. Once they started becoming more certain that they’d escaped their pursuers, they were able to start relaxing and started moving around and speaking at normal volume again. They quickly discovered why the ancient city had likely been abandoned many thousands of years before. Since the couple’s passing, the grey wool of the original inhabitants has degraded further, leaving further holes around the newer sections of blue wool. It is unknown what long lost technique the ancients used on their wool to make it last as long as it has.
@Silver-SableSeerАй бұрын
The only technique the unknown ancients are believed to have created that has persisted through the ages and that we still use to this day, is the technique used to form wool into blocks that can even be used in construction. Now that ancient cities have been rediscovered, several privately funded scientists are hoping to get permission to take samples of the ancient wool blocks for analysis in hopes of reverse engineering whatever technique or natural process has caused their longevity. One has theorised that something about being in close proximity to skulk altered properties of the keratin in a way that allowed it to last for centuries beyond that of the wool blocks of today. In a group statement made to the press, his peers have pointed out that It is useless to speculate the cause before testing has been done. They wished to warn builders not to get their hopes up as may indeed be many decades before research can potentially provide any answers.

11:23 I'd bet that's the rubble of a large walkway out into the hallways of the wall. You'd imagine that would be the most destroyed part of the wall, since it would be where the most fierce fighting would be, as the soldiers guarding the wall fight to keep intruders from just walking up and right on through

I'm enjoying this series so much. I think in my current just for fun Minecraft world, I might take a crack at restoring buildings after I've finished the sunken ship restoration I'm doing. I spawned in and there were two smashed together sunken ships side by side, on the surface, so I've been working my way through a restoration of those - albeit in survival. The smashed ships have ended up being home base for me, as they were mostly complete, just smashed together and offset by one block from each other (and in two different biomes, so different woods, which is what clued me in that it was two on a tile border).

@PerinStarАй бұрын
I know its not realistic, but minecraft is weird so, I have a theory that everything in the ancients city is meant to be fossilized, which means the deepslate brick might have been mud brick blocks, and clay blocks, terra-cotta and such may have been used to add color and decoration. The grey carpet could be any color, things like that. May not be feasible in reality, but video game logic might allow for it.

Hello there! First of all I love the series ! There's just one thing that has been weighing on my mind since earlier in this project and I'm sorry for coming in so late regarding this but when you guys replaced the Sculk Veins with Air, you did it all around the city iirc. Isn't it possible that some building blocks were lost because of it ? I remember seeing Sculk Veins along some Roads which would mean some of the holes you found later in the buildings may have been from that edit ? example : kzbin.info/www/bejne/boO0hJ6Ke9SWmrssi=XUsGgvzxiHwQXAJn&t=185 I would love to hear your input regarding this concern of mine. Thank you and Restore away Friends !!

No, skulk veins only infect air and water (like glow lichen) when they were replaced with air, no blocks were affected

15:36 I would think it’d be reasonable to take a look at other city center’s that might be near-ish. While you can try to compare near by blocks and determine patterns, having an entire structure to compare against would be a bit more definitive. Right?
