I used to be a vendor over a decade ago, had a great location on my local beach, but I rented to pay for my education and lately I've been thinking of vending again, and you might have persuaded me to go out and buy a cart and get back out there, I freaking miss it.

WoW!! Thanks so much for the detailed video I know it took a great deal of extra effort!just what I needed to understand. I hope to get a cart soon. Thank you also for the editing. No one realizes how much time and effort it takes to edit unless you’ve done it yourself! You have done a lot of work for our benefit. I just can’t thank you enough! By the way what is a Casper dog?( a foot long dog? Well take a rest you deserve it!

Thanks for appreciating! I’m so glad someone out there is getting something out of it! A casper dog is a sausage with a lamb casing causing it to snap when you bite into it. It’s a very popular dog here in the SF Bay Area! Good luck with your cart!

I enjoyed watching your video and also didn't mind the drive time. I am getting ready to start a small cart that needs so much fixing up. I am retired and am hoping to make money to supplement my Social Security in Oregon. It is a bit overwhelming to know how to get permitted. Any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated!!
@Fifthgenerationfamily
@Fifthgenerationfamily 2 жыл бұрын
It’s totally overwhelming!! The best advice I have is do it one bite at a time. Even if it’s one page per day. They’re usually 10-20 page applications, and if you don’t have someone to answer all your questions it can be crippling. Print it all out, and answer all the questions you know, then take each one you don’t and tackle it one at a time until you’re done. Sometimes it takes days to weeks because you have to have another person or multiple people sign certain pages and you’re at the mercy of their schedule. The health dept is usually willing to help answer questions about specifics on the applications. Good luck!

Nice video. There is a old saying "less is more" 😂. You should consider cutting down some on the driving video time. But don't cut it out entirely. Use it as some transition "B" roll. The scene you did backing up the cart into the parking lot in tight space was good video ( folks need to understand these are the kind of conditions you have to deal with. And speaking as a professional truck driver of 32 years you did a great job of backing that short little cart trailer. Well done.) Anyway in the last video of yours i mentioned the pickup was a little overkill for your foodtrailer. Was not meant as a criticism. The van was perfect for the cart and does look big enough for foodtrailer. Im curious, the foodtrailer looks like a Airstream. Did you get that new or did you do a remodel? Either way i very much like how it's put together and laid out. Have a great day. 😊

Awesome video! Question how did you get employees you trust? Once it got busy and how did you go about payments if you don’t mind me asking!?
@Fifthgenerationfamily
@Fifthgenerationfamily 3 жыл бұрын
I started with friends, and teenagers of friends and good people I knew. I live in a small-ish town, where everyone knows everyone, so thankfully it’s not too hard for me to trust my employees. Also, they see it as a fun job and tell all their friends, we get quite a few applications! But there are a few ways to keep them honest. Cameras (which you would need a wifi hotspot for) and cash management through your payment system. I use square, and with that I can enter a starting amount, and I know how much is supposed to be there at the end of the shift based on the report. (I make sure they know about that, and check it in front of them, so they know I’m paying attention to our accuracy with cash) And of course, work closely with them for their first few shifts, get a feel for their character, build your relationship, and you should be able to trust your instincts about whether or not you can trust them. As for payment system, we started by adding two extra phone lines (with wifi) to our cell phone plan, and used simple square hardware with old cell phones we had laying around. We upgraded to a square terminal for one location. (Love it!!) and then ultimately bought the square POS system for our store. All devices can take payment and track separately, seamlessly. Hope that helps!

@@Fifthgenerationfamily so inspirational. I was selling food before. I was doing grilled wraps and burgers and potatoes....illegally 😬🤣 but my joint was jumping and then my dad got sick so I had to come to New York right before covid hit. Still here and worked for Amazon until I got injured. Suddenly I was like I want to sell friggin hotdogs and hamburgers. I make a mean smash burger and homemade coney. My chili is fye and I make great southern style sweet coleslaw. Do you do toppings? Anyway, so, I started watching vids and ran into yours and it's just inspiring me to keep pressing and make this happen when I go back home to Mississippi. And do it legally of course bc I know I'm going to retire on this with the Lord guiding me. Blessings and continued success for you.

Cali gas can??? Go to the local farm and ranch store and buy any one of the colored cans that has a clear flexible pipe and a sprinkler pvc cap on the top. They’re all labeled not for gasoline. Literally every atv and motorcyclist and lawn mowing company in Cali uses em for gas. Ask the store what reason they have thousands of them for and they can’t name a reason other than gas.
