Bazzite is pretty good. I still wish valve would officially release it, but I guess this about as close as I’ll get. Beggars can’t be choosers. Glad to have a plug and play windows replacement that works well on nvidia too.

Thank you for the video I really wanted to see how the steam os based distro performs and you delivered.

I use bazzite on my gaming machine myself, and I have to say that I didn't encounter any issues you describe. Everything worked just out of the box. Only ventoy gave me some trouble in the beginning, but that's fair as it's just not supported right now. Other than that everything was just perfect for me. I didn't test specifically for exact fps, just if my games run as smooth as before, and in general the games where it's most critical did just fine. There were also less stutters, especially when the system does something in the backgroud, so it improved my gaming experience a lot. I think that you have a system with problematic hardware, so I believe you shouldn't count the problems resulting out of that against bazzite. But that could possibly be improved by the bazzite team. I think this is something really cool, even if it is not yet working perfect on every system, bazzite is a cool new concept which should lead to a quite reliable gaming system (after finishing the installation)

Thanks for the reply, I think it will work on a lot of hardware for sure, as I mentioned in the end, it definately would work on those handheld devices best. And I agree, it will work on most of the AMD GPU gaming system out of the box if the users don't setup another input method or have an Intel 2xx wifi card (which works without any tinkering on most of the other distributions I installed on this channel), but we need to accept that after people spending their hard earned money on their hardware (believe me, I have many comments reaching out to me with the odd hardwares, new and old), we can't just tell them their hardware is wrong and go change their systems when you want to encourage them to use a certain system, and especially telling them that after they have spent the time installing it only to find it's not working, it will scare them and make them give up on Linux. I used this laptop deliberately on this channel to test distributions even when I have an AMD GPU desktop (now I swapped an nVidia GPU in it but it still runs very smooth with Linux) just because this laptop has 2 GPUs so it can expose as many issues as possible, that when other people encounter the same issue, they have reference to solve them. Thanks for watching and the reporting

@@MumblingHugo Thank you for the long and nice answer! Your videos are really good, I enjoy your realistic style. I also completely agree to what you wrote, Bazzite should be improved in some important areas. It is also good to not create unrealistic expectations. And I still miss the advantages of this "new world" of immutable distributions in your video. As someone who already uses Linux daily this looked a bit like a trash distro that should be avoided. But it isn't, I use it daily (on Nvidia) and had no issues. I'm convinced that it will keep delivering for a very long time. Maybe I'm also special in my preferences and see all this a bit too positive? Okay, anyway, keep making theese little interesting videos!

Thanks for the understanding, it’s just the nature of Linux, I think I am unfair to other distributions like regatta os and blend os because I tried them during their earlier stage using this laptop, I also plan to revisit them to see if I can reclaim their names, it’s just that these things and fixes take times and we need to be patient as Linux enthusiasts, thanks again for your support

I used Ventoy on a Legion Slim 7 AMD 7840hs with RTX 4060, no issues and real good OS. Very stable. There are now specific ISOs for Asus laptops.

The real game is the distro itself.

Exactly... it is as everything you try to do in Linux, you should solve a puzzle...

So I should stick with Chimera OS for the time being right?
@MumblingHugo8 ай бұрын
I’ve never used it, so I can’t say, chinmera doesn’t have the compatibility with nvidia gpu

is it better to run bazzite or steam OS on a PC with NVIDIA 450 ? 🧐🤔

Hi, Did you try the steam gamin mode from bazzite on your Nvidia?

Yes I opened it once for a very brief time, and it crashed after some time.

Different preferences, but after using AMD machines for a while, I'll never use anything that doesn't have AMD in it. The plus the best thing is that, every Linux operating systems seems to prefer AMD as well, so it's a win win. I've tried a bunch of Linux os in the past, and since I was a console gamer, for me it was kind of fun to find out people don't have to be restricted to Windows garbage, reason why I switched to PC gaming. I've tried a bunch of different Linux distributions, and all worked superbly well on my pc, started with Ubuntu, Mint, PopOS, Manjaro, Nobara, Endeavor, Holoiso and now Chimera os. Holoiso was my favorite for being pretty much the same as in my Steam Deck, but it seems that it got abandoned, reason why I'm using Chimera os now, otherwise I'd still be using Holoiso for my preference only, because all of the other distros worked incredibly well and no Windows shit can beat it. I do have Windows 11 pro, for MW2019 and MW2, but the few other games I've tried on Windows, ran like shit compared to Linux, even Linux Mint which I don't really see it as a game optimized distro, kicked Windows trash ass I guess I could be called an AMD fanboy, Windows hater lol

Haha good for you, and if you see my last video about amd and nvidia, you’d see amd is not perfect either when comparing to nvidia. Like DaVinci resolve and obs hardware encoders, nvidia is just easier to setup on Linux
