Here's a super long Korean sentence that Hyunwoo wrote for your reading practice. How much of it do you understand? And how long can you make your Korean sentences to be? Let's practice together through this video.

I'm an intermediate learner and can understand long sentences right away- as long as I'm reading it. Listening really hits different... Same with English, which I speak natively. I can't even watch English shows without subtitles because I can't comprehend long words and sentences when they're spoken. Even with practice it's hard for me because I'm a slow person, fast-paced stuff sends me into a panic and in the moment I end up forgetting everything I've learned. I honestly don't know how people do it. It's hard because I love to study languages but I can't understand any of them
@stefamii
@stefamii 4 жыл бұрын
I suggest listening to sentences at a slow pace at first and then eventually working up to a higher level when you feel comfortable. Also, make it a habit to practice everyday and don't get discouraged when you feel you may not be improving as much as you want. I think when you pick out the words that you can actually understand in a sentence, you will realize that you aren't doing that bad. Or, maybe you have the habit of relying on subtitles since you feel so discouraged, which doesn't help you in the long run. I don't know, these are just some of my suggestjons. You may have already tried everything I suggested, but either way, don't give up because I'm sure that you'll improve with time, even if it's slower than others.
@deorojeu
@deorojeu 4 жыл бұрын
@@stefamii Thank you for your suggestions. I used to watch k-dramas without subtitles every now and then to practice but I don't know why I quit... I'll try that again to see if I can get any better. It's weird because I can understand Korean much easier when it's spoken to me directly, but not as much when it's recorded.
@jasminee204
@jasminee204 4 жыл бұрын
@@deorojeu have you tried re-watching a show you might have already watched with English subtitles in Korean? I found that helped me a lot as I was already familiar with what kinds of topics they covered. Also, k-dramas aren't all that realistic in language (at least imo). I would recommend variety shows!

Watchu mean characters Like individual letters or character blocks You do realise that hangul is a legit alphabet right Not a logographic system, syllabary, abjad or abugida It's incredibly inefficient to memorise blocks given the number of combinations

I absolutely love this!! I will literally seek these segments if you continue. I'm STRUGGLING through this plateau stage in my studying, so this is the perfect combination that I believe could tie it all together and hopefully propel me out of it! Thank you again

One thing that still confuses me is saying 'and' in Korean. There's so many different words 😭
