Really really good production girls, I was glued to it all through, I've come across entries in wills from the 1500s to leave provisions of meat and drink, sultanas and malt etc, I actually felt a little envious that I could not eat some too

That was SUCH an epic episode. Thank you for everything…. The research, the recipes, the story telling, the costumes, AND NOT TO MENTION THE ENTIRE COOKING OF IT ALL. You are both top drawer, first rate peers of the realm. 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕🇨🇦

Thank you that is such a massive compliment!!! It might be our best Christmas special yet! We’ve learnt a lot this year and this video encapsulates that, we can’t wait to share more in the New Year! A busy holidays of editing I think! Have a wonderful Christmas!! 😂🤎🫶

Both did an historical production justice. The turkey looked moist, plum pudding nice and stodgy. The lambs wool was an epic drink, water was not safe to drink so producing beer and boiled beverages was safer to drink. Cloves were medicinal great for rotten teeth and perfume. ❤ Great stuff ladies 👏🏻👏🏻 Seasons greetings

This was delightful. First year I have seen your Christmas special as I became a subscriber this summer. Enjoying your channel very much. I think the chocolate dish looked delicious. Would like to see more cooking during other times of the year also. The history of the recipes added a lot. Merry Christmas to you both.

"Lashings of butter" - sounds decadent! Thanx - this was very interesting. Civil war has to be the worst type of conflict. Thanx & Merry Christmas

Very moorish indeed!! The scars it left on society is eye opening! Newark is a fascinating town to visit so see some of the physical marks. Hard to imagine such a time! Thank you!! 🙏🎄🤎

@@RomanFound I'm in Oregon USA so can only visit GB via video, but enjoy learning about your countries history (actually my families history too - who emigrated to the American British Colonies in early 1700's.) I haven't found one ancestor who fought in our Civil War. Maybe there is one pre-emigration, who was, maybe, a Royalist! Thanx for all your videos - I always learn something new from them.

I really enjoyed watching this and can imagine this was quite the undertaking! Thank you for putting this together and all of the context you provide for the dishes. It’s always fascinating to hear of the socio-political pulse when it came to food and adds an extra quality that Anthony Bourdain had with his shows. I think I’ll be making the turkey and the chocolate dessert in the near future.

Thank you Jordan! We had a crazy idea and ran with it 😂 it’s daunting but fun to produce the special episodes! But always feels worth the effort when we get such kind feedback! It really is time travel through your tastebuds which is such a fascinating concept! Completely recommend those dishes! We certainly will be making them again! 🎄🤎✨

Hi ladies, Xmas wishes to you, the video was really interesting and Canterbury seems like a lovely place. Food looked amazing, I had a thought, I know back in the day lots of people used alcohol in cooking to disguise the smell, taste of off meat, maybe that is why, and adding vinegar to plum pudding sounds horrible, great video, all the best, have great festivities
