James Mulholland was my professor at Butler University in the early 80's! He taught me choral arranging. I so love this piece!

Lucky you! I sang in a professional choir for about ten years and even amongst all the difficult pieces, the commissioned works...this particular arrangement by Mulholland remains a favorite amongst all the singers, even decades later.

Lyrics: O my Luve is like a red, red rose That’s newly sprung in June; O my Luve is like the melody That’s sweetly played in tune. As fair art thou, my bonnie lass, So deep in luve am I; I will luve thee still, my dear, Till a’ the seas gang dry. As Fair art thou, my dear, so deep in luve am I an; I will luve thee still, my dear, Till a' the seas gang dry. I will love thee still, my dear, While the sands o' life shall run Till a’ the seas gang dry, my dear, And the rocks melt wi’ the sun. As Fair art thou, my bonnie lass, so deep in luve am I; I will come again, my luve, Though it were ten thousand mile. I will come again.

I've sung this before and now I'll be going to PSU starting in the fall! I love coming across this sort of crossing of paths through music

I'm a trans woman (19) singing the soprano bit and that high A is giving me some trouble. Mad respect to the sopranos for singing it in such a beautiful controlled way!

Indeed, Bruce…it is lovely poem, beautifully set to music here. And I agree that great credit goes to the poet, whom you call “Robert Burns.” Very nice, but it would have been better had you tried to put his Scottish heritage into your spelling of his name. Something like, “Robbie Bairns.” (That’s my best stab at it, anyway!). I kid, I kid. Nice to know you enjoy this piece too. Kind wishes…JT

@@jamestierney2531 Rabbie Burns is mair like it as that is how we Scots pronounce his name . Beautifully sung by the choir .
