A reflection upon Nintendo Force magazine | Gaming’s best kept secret that you need to know about

Since 2013 Nintendo Force magazine has taken up the fallen mantle left by Nintendo Power, which sadly went out of print around the same time. And since 2018, or so, our family has been an avid reader…..but, sadly, we are also among the very few. So that’s why we want to share our love of Nintendo Force magazine with you guys. We want to spread the news, talk about the magazine’s usual contents, and offer up some suggestions that we think might transform Nintendo Force into a Force to be reckoned with in the contemporary videogame scene!

Another great video, I wasn't aware this magazine even existed. I do think that with Patreon being the only method of physically obtaining the magazine has probably limited its appeal to new customers in a way that has caused them to focus on an older audience. Readership of a lot of the old video game magazines started for most eventual subscribers from either physically seeing it on newsstands, or for the official magazines like Nintendo Power or Sega Visions, seeing the promotional material included with games, peripherals and consoles. Heck, I even recall Nintendo Power being sold at blockbuster video in the mid 90s and being surprised at the time as I had perceived it as a subscriber only magazine prior to that. If the magazine offered subscription cards or a more traditional method of distribution than patreon donations, I think that would go a long way in distributing it. Just on a side note tied to games magazines for kids, there was another independently produced gaming magazine aimed strictly at kids called "Little Player" that was run by Martin Alessi the former EGM review crew editor famous for his early 90s shoot-em-up reviews. Sadly, Martin passed away earlier this year and I'm unsure of the magazine is still in print. Keep up the good work.

The meaning of a ten out of ten varies from publication to publication. Most of the time a 10 out of 10 is not true perfection, but perfect recommendation, meaning, that it's completely safe to recommend it, the chances for you to dislike it are incredibly minuscule.

Yeah, it doesn't feel like the magazine was thought for kids. I find it very compelling, just not enough to put money into it. But I am a millenial. I am in my 30s. I enjoy reading. When I was a kid, I was all for... well, bad example, I was a weird kid. But I bet most kids are all about pictures and memes and that kind of stuff, easy to digest.
