A review of FakeSteel Armory's Polish Saber

I bought the same saber with the longer and heftier "yelman" blade, gotta say it's a pleasure to use perfect if you do HEMA or any historical fencing alike, what I also like is that the blade is very rigid while maintaining a normal LARP flex you expect, this allows you to do twirls and moulinates easier and the blade feel a lot quicker and responsive, also the other part I like about Fakesteel sword is the functional guard, in this case the upper part both front and back is very rigid and allows you to parry and redirect blows, overall 9/10 considering it's very sturdy, well balanced and historical accurate, doesn't cost a lot compared to other quality swords like calimacil considering that you can also customise the sword

Thanks again for another review on this amazing company. I'm actually expecting a delivery of their longsword this week! I'm mostly going to use mine for solo hema drills. I was curious on your success rate on being able to use them in U.S. based larps, though. I understand their foam is on the harder side. In your experience, have you encountered any specific games that allow or disallow Fakesteel?

So far I have not encountered a game that outright banned their usage, though my excursions into latex larp games are limited to DrachenFest, Malleus and Dead Legends. I do also know that they did just create a softer foam for their double sided blades that I intend to check out and review as well!

Wish more larps would focus on using fencing techniques over Boffer kata, Boffer sport is fun and all but I wanna fence without having to do HEMA/ARMA. lol

Agreed! Sometimes a less intense and different fencing experience can add a lot that one might not expect!
