He has been recognized as one of the leading practitioners of contemporary classical architecture. Schafer's work has been featured in many publications. He specializes in building "new old houses" as well as renovating historic ones. This is his first book, and he begins with three essential cornerstones of a great traditional home.

I watched this although I already own this book. It is at the top of my list for books I look at again and again. Gil's own home is the epitome of coziness, charm and beauty. It reminds me of my favorite houses from Traditional Home magazine in the 90's. I wish I had those issues back!

Gil Schafer He's a great architect. Just how Schafer places the buildings in the landscape and shapes it around them is very beautiful. His eye for detail makes these traditional buildings very authentic.
