There are things that can make the Kitchenaid mixer more useful. A Mat helps slide it across the counter. And only when you want it to slide. A metal shield/guard keeps spoons and bowls safer to funnel into the bowl. I have a Princess House hand etched bunt pan that is crystal with no lead. I have cooked with it nearly 25 years! I am a little jealous you and Daniel laugh so much. An accountant can be pretty serious. We once wallpapered a bathroom. We almost divorced over that bathroom 35 years ago! I love your books and buy when I can!

Charlotte- I really appreciate your comments, and I'll tell you, our secret. We realize we are not perfect, and unless someone's life is at stake, we try to overlook the (few) imperfections. This is the most important thing about our relationship, and it has been since we were teenagers...I think he is the funniest person in the world, and he thinks I am the funniest person in the world. That one thing has kept our friendship intact. We have only been married 10 years, so we'll see, but so far, so good!

I’m still trying to wrap my head around Martha Washington baking a cake with 40 eggs, what size was the cake pan ? Where did they get a cake pan that large ? And lifting it into a wood fired oven…releasing it from the pan? This is what happens when your husband is away for long periods of time.
