Thanks Adam... Watching this video a 2nd time now... The mossy branches shot in the previous video I liked the more I looked at it. The grayish bottom was because it hadn't greened up yet, but still a photograph worth saving & looking at later on... Glad to see U return to this spot again, except for the rain being the spoiler, LOL! The small waterfalls & landscape balanced out quite well methinks. Don't know much about producing videos, however I enjoyed the relaxed portion of this presentation & sitting down for a sip of whiskey B4 hand. I say to hell with the naysayers & simply keep doing what ya'll are doing! Bill on the Hill... :~)

Aberlour 🥃 is a good alternative for a cup of tea 🍵 but only in combination with a sturdy tripod at least for the camera 📷😁 Anyway I am looking forward to see more variations of this shot. Even these two demonstrate the big difference of a few weeks. 👍🏻 by the way I alike the second one more because of the contrast between the dark branches and the bright leaves.

Love the B roll of coffee/tea/whiskey/margaritas? LOL And the switch from tea to whiskey, well - it's 5 o'clock somewhere, right? Haha And your video-making is soooo not terrible. Don't sell yourself short in that department. As far as the photo of the mossy maple grove trees, I like it even better now. That green new-growth foliage really hides the mess in the back. Too bad you had to leave, I would have liked to see it backlit in the morning. Great video as always, albeit a bit short… :D Looking forward to Wednesday. Thanks for all the hard work in putting these together! Much appreciated! (FYI I created a funny meme for your Saturday videos; I guess meme's are what they're called. Posted it on IG and tagged you. Great images Adam. I was supposed to be on the island next month. Next summer hopefully. I was out shooting the orange moon last night at about 12.30am. In my back garden of course. The weather in Blighty has been wall to wall sunshine since lockdown and we had the wettest winter on record. Anyway, I’m more of an Autumn/winter landscape photographer so hears hoping we’ll be set free by then. I hope you are enjoying that new Fuji camera.

I think the extra green of the leaves makes that photo even better. How about a really shallow depth of field so only the inward branches are sharp and the busy background just falls away into a blur.
@christian.irmler
@christian.irmler 4 жыл бұрын
Hi John, on my experience working with shallow depth of field is difficult for most landscape scenes, as we are used to "scan" a landscape with our eyes (means also a photograph of a landscape) - and our eyes jump through the landscape, as we are not able to catch the whole scene in one go, as a camera does. This is, why a wide opened aperture doesn't work in most cases for landscape photography and I think it's also the reason why many "not-landscape photographers" are able to photograph "everything", but struggle with landscapes, as isolating works different in landscape photography. I love Adam's compositions at this scene, although I think the bright, lush greens draws the eyes and distract from finding a flow in the image. The original composition (also the right image at 10:51) is just awesome, as the mosses get fantastic isolated from the lines behind.

The little stream shot with the Orton glow was really nice I thought. Maybe its just me but I still think the mossy tree shot needs something for the limbs to lead to. I think what hangs me up is they are the perfect frame, complete with leading lines inward for something but there just isn't a subject in there unless as you suggest the light adds it. I personally think a good fog may help. I sometimes have an element I really like in a scene and spend hours trying to make it become more than it is but in the end, I come to realize it just won't happen. Maybe I'm just missing it on your photo.

A real improvement with the second version, Adam. With the new leaves further back it seems to create more separation and story; the old foreground trees jealously reaching towards the new growth. The later image in the stream is great too, can see what you mean about left right balance but only to a small degree given the mossy outcrop on the left; maybe not a portfolio image but beautifully lit and quality nevertheless 👍🏻

Hi Adam, enjoyed the video and yes FAR TOO MANY vloggers are sipping and slurping cawfee or tea at the introduction and that's generally when i go out and make a cup of tea, or more likely in normal times set off for North Wales. But watching videos from various photographers does give an alternative viewpoint for sure and you certainly have some alternative views and nice fotos and ideas....and places to shoot too. But i was watching Nick Page recently, another nice bloke and great photog and he mentioned you as being a Brit, i did see your mom and dad in one video and they were imo North Of England poss Lancashire or Yorkshire (God's Country} so i often wonder where you originated and how you ended up over there.?

Adam, as I said before you seldom disappoint. First, I for sure like the photo better now that the back ground trees have some leaves on them. The photograph needed that contrast. As for the folks that get a little antsy while we watch our favorite blogger make coffee, tea or simply have a shot of sipping whiskey, I suggest they slow down and take time to enjoy the moment. Life is way too short, and when you get older you realize instead of stopping to smell the roses you simply ran through them and there is no turning back. Next time make a peanut butter sandwich, film the entire event and have a seat.....we can wait until your done eating and ready to carry on.

Not even close Adam the previous image worked for me because of the mood drama and the relationship between all the elements. What some think of busy or messy, I see as visual tension which it turn gives you an eerie felling like if you proceed you might not come back. In turn this makes for a more compelling story as an image.
