There’s still fun cars today but man did we lose this experience - the sound the feel the smell. Damn I miss it.

fabulous car. i owned a 71 Hemi Gtx for over 30 years..the only one ever made with a canopy top. 71 was a wonderful year for hemi cars though extremely rare.

Opening scene....NO A/C available (no vents in plastic wood dash insert) I started one of these once. And then bought it. Un driven, from a closed down gas station in LA. THIS being the LA freeway....7 lanes a day, 9 at night. Break 'em loose ...@ 45 mph...in a 4500 pound car. I bought my first Hemicar for the cool hood deal. 1971 Road Runner, out of Canada, by way of Indiana.

a lot of 71 cars of any brand had the good pre 71 options. they WERE plenty.but a lot of them got wrecked.. crushed. and are not out there anymore. good to see someone has still got one

Interesting car. Sounds like it could use some carb tuning.

@rtmike70 That's no exhaust leak. That's the hemi whispering to me "stick your foot in me and drive me like you used to, you wimp." The "wimp" part, though true, really made me sad. So I turned off the heat in the garage!!

Beautiful car.I met someone today that has a 71 that needs alot of work but does have a good running 440 in it...he wants to trade it for my jeep..he is asking $7800 for it..so it must need a few things right?..if it is not rusted to bad I am going to make the deal..I really have been craving a muscle car recently...oh, and my colors of choice is black with black wheels...your car is better than gold, dont sell it....

68-70's are very cool too but the 71-72's had options that you couldn't get in the 2nd gens but let's face it Chargers are cool cars!

that car is extremely rare to be ordered with an automatic ON THE COLUMN... they are very rare. usually on the floor. the hemi was one of the leftover motors from 1970. you could order anything they had left on the shelf when you purchased a new car. if they had a hemi you could order itand because dodge was doing away with the hemi in 71 the original owner probably got it at a steel. THAT IS ONE AWESOME RIDE. that thing is priceless

That car is too rare to be driving on the streets with traffic taking a foolish risk on such a exotic option car of that vintage a 71 hemi charger with a column shift is unheard of

Those cars back in the day were purposely built for racing the big oval track until Nascar put the stop on the Hemi in 1971.

This car should be showcased not on city streets and crowded freeways in Cali, but somewhere in the generally uncrowded northbound lanes on Interstate 29 between Grand Forks and the Canadian border.

Possibly my favorite application of the 426 Street Hemi. This is just my opinion: I understand the originality factor, and keeping those wheels and tires.... in the garage.... is a fine idea. Put some properly sized shoes on that car so it can look it's best. Those tiny things were a cost saver and detract from the performance and looks of this magnificent machine.

Many people forget these cars were almost 5000lbs with a full tank of gas.
@Conaddor
@Conaddor 11 жыл бұрын
They really were at 4100lbs I took mine and had it weighed with a full tank of gas in it. They were long I think right at 19ft and when you got on the big block like that and not careful you light up the tires. You light them up again when you hit second gear too.

hemis and magnum powered cars always sounded leaky even when new but youve def got a leak. sweet sweet car you got there. 71's the only year where styling finally caught up with the performance.chase down that leak and a full set of 15x8 of those wheels thru wheel vintique and she'd be perfect.

I'm torn. Top speed is 130+ mph, but nobody would dare race it like that. This car must be babied, on the far right of the interstate, getting passed by other cars to avoid an accident. Pity...
