Hey Mr Tom, glad we are going for a ride ! I did bring my cushion so the bumps aren't too bad 😊 Looks like a nice day, I like to look at historical things , it's very interesting how things change over the years. Pats to the kitties, it's cooled down a bit today so I got a chance to clean my car inside and out, a job I really despise 🙃, not that it's that bad but it's just a pain lol Nice to take a break now I'm finished watching you ! Take care over there ❤

I really enjoyed the ride thru your quiet little town. It's really pretty and so peaceful. The history of the cotton mill and the housing for the employee's was so interesting. It's nice that people are fixing up the homes and keeping the area liveable. Thanks for another enjoyable ride, history lesson and sightseeing trip.

I really enjoyed the ride along Mr Tom. Lots of little mill villages where I live in NC too! Sadly, our mills are also mostly closed now. There was even a "company store" in town, but privately owned by the time I came along. It was a cool place to walk around in... lots of neat stuff to find in there.

I enjoy rides like this, too. So much charm and history!! Tallassee looks like a nice place to live. Thank you for taking us along. One this I like about Marianna is that most of the houses in town are older and on decent sized lots, too. My house in Sanford was pretty much zero lot line, in more modern subdivisions. Honestly, I didn't like it much, and that was one of the main reasons I moved here. It's such a shame that our textile industry has declined. Back in 1973, I worked in Washington, DC for the American Textile Manufacturers Institute, and got to know and work with many of the people in the textile industry. I sure wish our country would wake up and see that our people need industries that provide good jobs. Lord, don't get me started!
@grandmajane25939 ай бұрын
There was a bix textile industry here in Connecticut too. It's a shame all those jobs lost. One was Willimantic, CT American Thread Co. They were famous for their thread. They had big factory buildings and employed almost the whole town. There were many others scattered over the state. But it appears foreign countries can do it cheaper than we can.

My house is one of the first from 37 and was added on in 55 when the neighborhood was built. Though the TB hospital was built in the 40s and now a little community college and now selling. Afraid of a developer. There's 158 acres with the college of woods in walking distance I hope they leave alone. Where will the deer go? This was a farming community. A few hobby farms left and still a lot of old farm equipment in yards. Have to aways for real. farms again. Nice to see your town's history. I'm not too far from one of Henry Ford's old places. Drunk kids in the 90s burned the big house down.

Mr. Tom with all the "beefing" about electric cars, sustainability for climate change etc., I just want to say I am a Prius owner, for several years and about now, I am very glad I got it. It is the gas/reverse? braking system that charges the battery. When I bought it I did not calculate in the 3 yr debacle, hoax, the world going nuts and inflationary prices on everything. It saves me a lot of money. The trip info always says 45-50mph...I get at least 38. I think the Priuses get better city miles than highway. Highway trips = 38 mph and city, side street trips=49.

The small town I grew up in, in the MS Delta had 2 cotton gins, a grain elevator and a cotton mill. I grew up at the Cotton Mill and knew every nook and cranny. My Daddy was the plant manager so we lived on the property. Now there is nothing left in the town for anyone to do. Progression has been a bad deal for some. I'm 66 now and can see how our once great country has been slowly destroyed from our politicians.
