Do you keep a safe following time when behind another vehicle? In this video, we use the simulated environment to demonstrate that when we don't follow behind another vehicle with enough time and distance, we could have a rear-end collision. By law in Victoria, Australia, it is a legal requirement to keep a safe distance. Here is an extract from the Road Safety Road Rules 2017: "126 Keeping a safe distance behind vehicles A driver must drive a sufficient distance behind a vehicle travelling in front of the driver so the driver can, if necessary, stop safely to avoid a collision with the vehicle." This rule and general way of driving should be practiced daily. At CRUDE Ultimate Driving Education, we teach a 3 second following time in good conditions, adding on a second or two in poor conditions. We hope this Road Safety message can reach far and wide - "Distance... is... everything."
