The driver in front is evidently distracted when the green arrow comes on. Therefore, we needed to use our horn. We used our horn in a way that was not aggressive. We like to call it a courtesy tap. Due to the driver not moving after 1 horn tap, we required 2 more.

Road rule 219 is relevant too - “ A driver must not use, or allow to be used, any light fitted to or in the driver's vehicle to dazzle, or in a way that is likely to dazzle, another road user.” So if another car is more then 200 m away, you still can’t use your high beam if it’s likely to dazzle them in any way.

Correct. Basically, these bright lights are meant for when we are own our own at night. They light up the road further ahead so we can see any potential hazards, etc.

It's been many years since I took drivers education. But I was taught it's the merging drivers responsibility to match speed and find an opening. And I drove like that for many years. But now I try to not be a complete pr1ck, and if possible I try to make room for the people trying to merge.

Good to see you have changed your perspective on this. You are correct when it comes to who gives way to who and it is certainly the merging drivers responsibility when entering a freeway. However, we are all sharing the road and this type of courtesy goes a long way in terms of keeping up flow and safety. Thanks for your comment. :)

Just a quick question: Lets say, I want to turn right from a side road to main road, and its peak hour traffic. The main road has tram routes. Now, At the end of the side road is a STOP sign, so I am stopping compeletely. Since its peak hours, i dont have any visibility of the oncoming traffic on the other side of the road and the vehicles on both sides of the road are blocking my visibility for trams too. In that case, how should i proceed to take the right turn ? 1) Should i block the road just behind the tram tracks and stall the car traffic coming from right momentarily to see the trams ? (Wont I be stalling that traffic while I am checking for trams ? ) 2) Should I wait in the tram tracks and wait for the other side traffic to halt and then take a right turn (What if at this stage, a tram needs to halt for me ?) 3) Should I wait behind the stop sign till ALL road is clear, and then proceed for right turn ? (Wont I be stalling the traffic behind me in this case ? ) All above for vicroads test and for day to day driving, too.
@CRUDEDriving
@CRUDEDriving 17 күн бұрын
Stopping completely before the sign/line will make sure you have obeyed the rule. Once that's done, you can roll forward as much as possible to get some vision, but do not block the traffic. You can move on to the tram tracks fully, provided there is no 'visible' tram. If you cannot see a tram, it's basically blind luck. If a tram is approaching when you move out from the side street, you would then have to stop and block the traffic on the road... If this does happen, once the tram has proceeded, move yourself on to the tracks on a slight 1pm (60°) angle so that you are not sticking out on the road blocking traffic and you can see the traffic from the left or right through your corresponding front side window. Wait till safe, then proceed. If you are on the tram tracks and a tram comes, the tram will have to wait until you can go safely. Don't rush the situation! I would suggest booking in a practical driving lesson with me. You're entitled to a referral discount coming from KZbin. Explaining this via text is not good enough. I have responded to your other question which might help with this question. I do want to make a comprehensive video on this subject asap.

Hi, what happens if I am waiting in the tram lanes for the other side opposite traffic is still coming and then the tram has to stop for me ? How to handle this and whats the best position to wait when i dont have any clear visibility of the trams as well as the other side traffic (Lets say, from side to main road at peak hours).
@CRUDEDriving
@CRUDEDriving 17 күн бұрын
Thanks for your question. Here is an extract from the legislation (Road Safety Road Rules 2017): 76 Keeping clear of trams travelling in tram lanes etc. (1) A driver must not move into the path of an approaching tram travelling in a tram lane or travelling on tram tracks marked along the left side of the tracks by a broken or continuous yellow line parallel to the tracks. (2) If a driver is in the path of an approaching tram travelling in a tram lane or travelling on tram tracks marked along the left side of the tracks by a broken or continuous yellow line parallel to the tracks, the driver must move out of the path of the tram as soon as the driver can do so safely. Take note of "approaching tram" and "move out of the path of the tram as soon as the driver can do so safely". - Basically if you can't see the tram at all, how exactly are you supposed to "not move into the path of an approaching tram"? In the scenario in the video, we check for a tram first and foremost. If we cannot see an approaching tram, we move on to the tram tracks. If a tram then suddenly appears that wasn't in our line of sight (which does happen), then road rule 76 (2) comes into affect - "move out of the path of the tram as soon as the driver can do so safely". I think it's very unrealistic to think we will never block trams, and tram drivers should expect this will happen on the rare occasions. However, if you blatantly move into the path of a visible approaching tram, then that is illegal. I hope this helps.

Controlled right turn doesn't solve the problem. There is no room for dedicated right-turn lanes and so right turning traffic will still hold up through traffic. It makes matters worse if left turning traffic is holding up the left lane whilst waiting for pedestrians to cross. No one is going through. Hook turns combine turning traffic into one lane which keeps through traffic moving. Smart solution. Too smart for Sydney.

The elephant in the room, is LED globes. On these new cars, their fitted and angled down. All good if your on a flat road. Of course thats hardly the case, how often have you been blinded by an oncoming car thats on an incline, or better still, some wombat in an old 4x4 with aftermarket LED lights. Their absolutely blinding. To combt this with my falcon ute, ive installed a 24 inch lightbar on the nose, and two 54 inch lighbars on the forward ladder rack, and ive implemented a new policy 'your lights blind me, im returning the favour ten fold until you pass me'

I had someone coming towards me over a crest on a slight bend with their lightbars on and I could not see anything except light - I couldn't see the edge of the road, the centre line or even his car or where he was on the road. Learn about the keep left multi-lane road rule in Victoria, Australia with this how to video! This video was created around 2017/2018 in collaboration with the 'Sensible Speed Limits in Australia' Facebook page. The usage of "right lane hog" was requested, and we had a bit of fun with the video involving Jim Carrey from Ace Ventura. Check out the Facebook page here: facebook.com/SensibleSpeedLimits Please note that the rule (130) in this video was in accordance with the Road Safety Road Rules 2009 in Victoria, Australia. This particular rule has not changed in the (at time) Victorian legislation, which is the Road Safety Road Rules 2017, S.R. No. 41/2017 Authorised Version incorporating amendments as at 5 April 2023. The current fine in the 2023/2024 financial year is $192 and 2 demerits. The rules may be different in your country. Regardless, keeping to the left or right in general (country dependant) is an important part of sharing the road! When he says squeezing throttle I'm assuming he means stay on acel a bit to balance out your suspension? Racing motorcycles is similar in ways to driving a car fast, but there is far less room for error. If you're deep in a lean around a bend and you chop off the throttle it unbalances the suspension and you lose tyre grip and that's when you crash 😂

Welcome to the first track day in the CRUDE Ultimate Driving Education dual-control 2022 Hyundai i30 Sedan N! This wasn't a day of getting blistering lap times. It was a day of having fun and learning together. The videos starts with me (driving instructor) having Jackson from Trackschool by my side. This was my last session before my students last session. I wanted to gain more knowledge and understanding of Winton Motor Raceway by a pro race car driver. Read the website blog post featuring photos at www.crudedriving.com.au/community/first-track-day/ I'm highly grateful for Jacksons assistance. He certainly improved my lines and made me aware of the mistakes I was making. Because of this, I was able to assist my student who wanted me by their side for their laps for the days sessions. Check out Jackson at facebook.com/JacksonRiceRacing We went into this day with safety and car care in mind. The vehicle after all, is used daily for driving lessons. However, as the day went on, both my student and I wanted to go faster! We definitely want to get back out there and beat our times. Regardless of all this, the reason this all happened is because my student asked if this experience would be possible. I was very open to it and always wanted to do it but the time and costs needed to be assessed. Fortunately, thanks to Essendon Hyundai and the Nthused car club, we were able to get on track with Trackschool for a discounted price. I'm hoping to offer track days as a service to all my students in the near future. Check out Trackshool at www.trackschool.com.au/ Check out Nthused at instagram.com/_nthused/

It is a ridiculous rule. We continue to elect fools to run our country. When this rule was first applied in NSW many stories immediately spread about dangerous near-misses. A bunch of drivers were on one of the motorways coming around a corner in the wet. Suddenly they see a police car that has pulled someone over. Everyone panic brakes. One dude had a semi beside him. Under panic braking the trailer brakes locked and the trailer drifted toward this dude almost wiping him out. The most sensible thing to do (apart from voting better) is to lift off the gas when you see flashing lights, but do not brake unless it is to avoid a collision. As long as we continue to elect "one size fits all" fools, they will continue to write "one size fits all" rules.
@CRUDEDriving
@CRUDEDriving Ай бұрын
The education, promotion and enforcement of the rule is imperative. However, as we can see in the video, there are circumstances whereby this rule is not appropriate to safely obey. In my opinion, the rule just needs exceptions that are in place so that we don't come to this black and white issue of breaking the rule. I have to teach this people on a daily basis. On a lower speed limited road, it's not an issue. Higher speed roads with blind corners, blind crests, dense traffic, etc, are an issue. Emergency workers need to be protected, so the message of slowing down is the key.
