He shouldn’t have been suspended for 211 games or even 162 for the simple fact that he had never been suspended before. Ryan Braun, on the other hand, tested positive twice (had a 50-game suspension wrongfully overturned at first) and only got 62 games in total. Not to say A-Rod was right in the slightest, but I do agree that he has had a target on his back. If he was a Joe Schmoe instead of a full-fledged superstar, he wouldn’t have been blasted like he was.

I believe Kemp should have won that award even without the PED scandal. In 2013 he was found on a list of 13 players who were involved with the Biogenesis of America scandal (including A-Rod) all of which received suspensions based on their involvement. And this list related to prior seasons (2011), as can be noted by Melky Cabrera, Colon, and Grandal already have serving suspensions in 2012 for the same connection. The failed drug test and the list related to the same instance as far as what the public knows. I'm not advocating for either side. They are both POS...but they both failed 1 drug test
