I have both datejust and a sub and I would argue that my blue datejust with fluted bezel and jubilee bracelet is a nicer watch. I think people that never held it in their hands got in that sport rolex brainwash trap. Datejust reflects light like a magic, blue dial is mesmerizing and bracelet is way more comfortable than oyster on a sub.

True, a Datejust is “easier” to get. The Datejust of your choice however is another thing. DJ41 with blue or slate dial, fluted bezel and jubilee is in most countries and AD’s also a waiting list model. It remains the backbone of the Rolex collection and is an awesome everyday watch. I’m glad I got mine on oyster, it makes the watch more versatile 👍

@@Anshaal_ Wimbledon already was a hard to get dial so I can only assume it didn’t get any easier these days although I also hear rumours that AD’s are getting more deliveries of watches lately. I got my DJ41 plain bezel Oyster bracelet Wimbledon by luck. It was my wife’s favourite configuration and they happened to have one in their inventory that we could try but was supposedly for another customer who wasn’t informed yet. I guess they must’ve loved my wife’s smile because the next day we were told that if we wanted it was ours…We picked it up the same day 😁

@@bobmemer9062 depends on your lifestyle, how and where you want to wear the watch. Both are classics and yes the Submariner is copied a lot but what icon isn’t? In reality the Submariner is pretty hard to get these days but if your heart tells you that the Submariner is the one for you I’m sure there is a way to make it happen. I bought my Submariner in 1997 as my first luxury watch and never had any regrets. Last Wednesday the AD called me letting me know that my GMT Master II Pepsi arrived and was waiting for me to be picked up. Guess what I did yesterday. Good things are worth waiting for. Good video and topic. My one and only Rolex is a 1603 datejust circa '73 - '75 with a sigma dial. Kudos if you know the significance of the sigma, it's special and now a collectable. I personally feel a collector of watches must have a Rolex. Rolex is a giant in the watch industry and will remain so for a very long time (and it really doesn't matter which model you have). It doesn't matter how hard Omega and Grand Seiko try, they won't beat Rolex.

Datejust Jubilee is way more iconic than the Sub it wears amazing, great variety. Pre dates most active Rolex models. It wears great, love mine. Had a Sub and sold it, nowhere near as comfortable

Dear stephan, i am about to buy one DJ. However, the AD has only 41 (white dial, smooth bezel and oyster braclet) and 36 (blue dial, flutted bezel and oyster bracelt). I am so confused. What would be your suggestion? My wirst circumference is 6.5. I wore two of them. Although i feel closer to blue 36, i cant stop to think that it might be a bit small and looks a bit feminine. Many blogs and vlogs claim that 36 has been a norm for man watches for decades. To be honest, white dial is not my first choice especially after experiencing blue one. But the size concerns me a lot. Can i ask u and all other commenters to make statements about their experience with 41 and 36. Which one should I go?

@@yolgezerisvicrede it depends on how it feels and looks on your wrist. For me, the 36mm was too small. Since you admitted that the 36mm is looking small on your wrist, you know the answer even though you prefer the Dial color on the 36. I admit the 41mm can seem big but this will probably be better. Your other option is not to get the 41mm in white and wait till you can get the Dial color of your choice.

when it comes to rolex datejust, i preferred the 36mm vintage classic. Recently i got my 16030 with jubilee bracelets, blue turning to lavender dial, with open 6 and 9 date wheel and best of all, comes with its original warranty certificate. Nowadays it is really hard to find one come with original tritium dial and matching tritium hands. Basically most come close to these criteria were either modified or parts changed.

Like how dafuq why is that. Cginese watches that cost 20 bucks has that. I think all useful features should come above 1000, not alone 4000 plus. Like there is on the fly micro adjust on some 200 dollar watches (ofc they are mutch worse in all other regards). But for 4000k plus i expect GREAT (if not flawless) useability in sport watches.

So I walked into a Rolex AD during the last week of June. Sitting there in the case, for sale, were two Rolex DJ41. One was grey dial smooth bezel, oyster bracelet. The second was the blue dial, fluted bezel, jubilee bracelet. I was on a waitlist for the z-blue Milgauss, so I didn't want to use the Milgauss funds for that. Four days later, both are still just sitting there waiting to be purchased. I passed, and thankfully so cause three days later I got the call for the Milgauss and the next day it was on my wrist.

Got the call last week from my local AD after a year and half on the list, fell in love with the blue dial DJ41, the jubilee bracelet sealed the deal and was the one I always wanted. Did not hesitate to buy it, and yes of course I have the Pepsi GMT and other sports watches on that list, so I hope this purchase bumped me up on the list for any of those…but I am chuffed to bits to have the DJ for now and since I am not going to sell any of my watches unless I fall hard on my rear it does not bother me what the resale is on them. Say what you want, and I do respect the feedback, but the Omega and GS doesn’t give me the emotion the Rolex does. I gotta say though they let me try the Pepsi GMT on jubilee bracelet which is THE ONE I really want of the lot and I could not stop smiling, and as long as that happens when you try a watch on then you know which is the right one for you 👌

I think that the date wheel jars with the colour of the dial and that the dial colour will date the watch in the future - still prefer the white dial though it's harder to get with a smooth bezel and oyster bracelet.
