Thank you so much for demonstrating this with a simple straight cutter flush trim bit, instead of the Super expensive twisted up/down /compression bit... There are humans out here with simple bits! 🙂❤️

I know this was posted over a year ago and I'm sure you wont see this but I just wanted to say Thank you for a wonderful tip.!!! I have been struggling for years trying to get boards straight..Some of the solutions on You Tube seemed like I needed a Degree from NASA...Went and bought a 8 foot level and broke out the trim router...worked like a charm...Thanks April...love your work..!! That's how I found Matt Cremonas videos..!! Take care and stay safe.

I used the first trick to reduce a door that wouldn't close. Door was installed in the dry winter months, then in the hot humid summer it swelled. The amount that needed to come off was too small for a circular saw. I had to do it in two steps like shown in the video.

I had the amazing ability to take a perfectly straight board and give it a nice curve on my jointer. Took me a while to break myself of that skill. As to using palm routers, well, my full size router is now a permanent table saw mounted one. 99% of my hand routing is with the palm router.

How does the router flatten a board?
@macp349
@macp349 2 жыл бұрын
Not flatten, it straightens the/an edge of the board. A router can be used to flatten a board, but not like this
@kwilliams2239
@kwilliams2239 2 жыл бұрын
@@macp349 Understood. I wouldn't worry too much about straightening the slab. Dozens of ways to do that. Flattening is the hard part (for both the woodworker and the router)

This is specifically for jointing boards. You’ll need to look into getting yourself a planer for doing big surfaces

Yeah but...face jointing. A so-called "planer sled" needs to be well over 1" thick to be truly effective...difficult to handle and where do you even get such a thing?
