I have a feeling that the one production line in the beginning was intentional. So much red on that production line that the save owner probably deleted his other lines.

I remember a truly bad disaster I had a few years ago in Kaiserreich. I was playing the PSA trying to win the civil war. The CSA beats the east and we come to a head around the rockies. We sign the ceasefire and I use that to try to build up, but CSA builds up more, I get pushed way back, fall back to a very short river line in Washington and Oregon and start building forts. The CSA is unable to break me but keeps throwing their troops on, I wait until they're out of manpower and then push hard and was able to completely capitulate them. I then quit the save very soon afterwards because I decided to change my country name to be the old USA but the game tag switched me instead so I lost all research and focus tree progress I had made in the entire game.
