Thank you Melinda! You know what's funny? ... It 's actually hard to watch it back. When I was making I still had one savy, now both of them are gone and once I watch the video or a part of it all the memories come back. I didn't watch your video for a long time, because I had two savys and I also lost them both. It happened years ago, but it is still a painful thing to remember to. i think my monitor is dying also... he keeps missing his food when trying to bite it. it just started this past month. my monitor acts like your male when trying to get food. falls over then lays down with his eyes locked and he looks like he is having a seizure... thanks for posting this horrible experience. time for a vet visit

My sav just passed this morning she was 8 years old, dont know her cause of death but she dropped all of her weight in a week and completely refused to eat or drink I thaught I would give her a little more time to see if she would improve because this has happend before, she got a little more active yesterday but after a while she just crawled into her cave and passed in the morning im so sad.

So sorry you went through this. I felt like this when I lost my red ackie. I just felt lost and useless that I thought I was a terrible keeper and it hurt looking at my other reptiles. That was a year ago and I have improved and sometimes I still randomly think about it, but for me it I now a lesson learned. One day I will get another one, I am almost ready for that. The issue you had with your male when you first got him was a similar issue I had with my female Colombian. But even with these issues, you face you are still a really great keeper I know you do right by your animals.

Hi i wanted to tell my sad story. Im 12 and got my Savannah monitor a couple weeks before my birthday. I named him charmander and spent well over 1.5k on the tanks setup and all that. My poor little buddy wont eat, drink, constantly sleeps, is losing weight, hardly moves, breathes fast when i walk by, and at the shop we got him from a couple are dying in the tanks. Im scared thats what the sad ending for charmander is. :( Hes so adorable i cant stand seeing him pass away before my very eyes. This is the first animal ive ever lost. i was 7 when i got my first snake and now this guy years later. I was happy to get him because its a huge step for me to get something so intelligent. :((( rip charmander

Loosing a pet is always hard my friend. I recently lost a newt that I had for 8 years. Its painful but pinpointing what happened will always help you find closure. Best wishes

We just loss ours tonight... We tried everything. We thought we have still time. The vet doesn't kniw what is wrong with him. We did all the test. Everythibg seems normal. Yet he died few mins ago. So painful... Very very painful.

Omg I am sooo sooo sorry. Honestly you might think about changing vets. Not saying that the one that you took your monitors to was bad or didn’t know what they were talking about. I’m just thinking you lost two monitors and took them both in at separate times for almost the same reason and they still kept getting worse. I’m so sorry.

That is very heartbreaking to hear. I am keeping a savannah monitor too (6 years old) but I know his background, have the papers and everything. Though I understand that you are mad because of that really bad quality soil that had the label "BIO" on it. I must say this seems like an issue in your country. In germany something like that would never happen. So of course you could have read the backside carefully every time you buy substrate, the fact is that something like that should not be in a tiny font with a BIO label. Its a gouvernments responsibility to have brand transparancy regulation on their market

The problem was that it wasn't strictly for the hobby ... but the other one I used for years and years wasn't too. I just didn't have the possibility to buy the old one and tried this new. :/ Big mistake from my end .. S

Your first major fuckup is the all glass and screen enclosure. Your animals appear so dry. Monitors do well in wooden enclosures. I can continue but won’t. Other keepers need to know how to correct these mistakes.

Well I don't really think humidity was the issue. They got proper humidity in their enclosure and they got bathed multiple times a week so it's not that. I'm not even stressing the fact that the artificial background also sucked a lot of moisture in and held it back and kept the terrarium humid. You could go on with the depth of the substrate but I know that. I don't think you know how much I tried to keep these guys' health on top.
