I do know there's variant accounts (of the Genpei seisuiki in this case - a late 13th century work that also tells the same story) out there which state she later married Wada Yoshimori (one of the big early Kamakura shogunate bigwigs) after Yoritomo summoned her out of respect for her abilities to Kamakura, but again, no historical proof (and no mention whatsoever in the Azuma kagami, the shogunate chronicle).

There were Tomoe and Yamabuki in the concubines of Yoshinaka. Tomoe was a woman, but she was a samurai of match for a thousand. “Tomoe was especially beautiful, with white skin, long hair, and charming features. She was also a remarkably strong archer, and as a swordswoman she was a warrior worth a thousand, ready to confront a demon or a god, mounted or on foot. She handled unbroken horses with superb skill; she rode unscathed down perilous descents. Whenever a battle was imminent, Yoshinaka sent her out as his first captain, equipped with strong armor, an oversized sword, and a mighty bow; and she performed more deeds of valor than any of his other warriors.“ She is best known for her loyalty and courage at the Battle of Awazu in 1184. When Yoshinaka was defeated there, with only a few of his soldiers standing, he told Tomoe Gozen to flee because he wanted to die with his foster brother Imai no Shiro Kanehira and he said that he would be ashamed if he died with a woman. The adoptive father of Yoshinaka is Kanazashi Morizumi. Moritsumi appears in another classic book called "Azuma Kagame. He was the priest of Suwa‘s shrine, so he couldn't go to war. He was HeiKe's retainer was also a family man, so after the subjugation of Yoshinaka, he was captured by Minamoto no Yoritomo and deposited at of Kajiwara. Morizumi was a master of archery Fujiwara Hidesato‘s school. He showed off his yabusame at Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine. At this time Yoritomo gave the horse on the rampage on purpose as a horse that Morisumi rode, and when he shot through the eight targets that Morizsumi had specified, Yoritomo pushed the difficult task to shoot through the shards of the shot, the skewer that set the target further, but Morizumi was pardoned because he shot it all brilliantly. Me, my son, and my daughter's graduated junior high school is built on top of the ruins of his castle. @@vaiyaktikasolarbeam1906 Of course, Osamu Tezuka is one of the descendants of Tezuka no Taro kanazashi no Mitsumori. Without Tezuka no Taro kanazashi no Mitsumori, Astroboy would not have written. Kanazashi is kanazashibe-u ji. in other words one of the ancient clans of Japan. Kanazashi is derived from “Shikishima no Kanazashi no miya“, which was emperor Kinme's imperial palace, and is people who were engaged in the management of the land etc. devoted to the capital. (Kinmei-tennō, (509-571) was the 29th Emperor of Japan) Kanazashi was also ancestor of Mononobe uji. Mononobe uji was a Japanese clan of the Kofun period, known for its military opposition to the Soga clan. The Mononobe were opposed to the spread of Buddhism, partly on religious grounds, claiming that the local deities would be offended by the worshiping of foreign deities, but also as the result of feelings of conservatism and a degree of xenophobia. The Nakatomi clan, ancestors of the Fujiwara, were also Shinto ritualists allied with the Mononobe in opposition to Buddhism.

In The Tale of the Heike, the lawful wife of yoshinaka is Fujiwara no ishi In Genpei seisuiki (the Rise of the Minamoto and Fall of the Taira),the lawful wife of yoshinaka is a Yamabuki The truth is, don't know if she's a righteous Concubine. I think it's more correct to describe it as "loved one“ or “secondary wife“. Who does not love wine, women and song; remains a fool his whole life long.

@@Linfamy Lord Kiso Yoshinaka, was a lord of the Minamoto, so powerful, he could even defeat the Taira and conquer the capital. He had such a knowledge of warfare that he even managed to get his own lady to fight beside him. The bushi side of japan is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be.. unnatural. He became so powerful, that the only thing he was afraid of was losing his grip on court, which of course eventually he did. Unfortunately, he found out too late that Go Shirakawa was communicating with Yoritomo. And he got slaughtered. Ironic, he could save Tomoe from death, but not himself..

Two things referenced in Sekiro here! Tomoe is a warrior in the game's lore who mentors the main bad guy Genichiro and disappears before the start of the game. And there's a flaming bull which is the most brutal miniboss in the game. That god damn bull I swear

Random side-note on the video: Kiso Yoshinaka's son (not with Tomoe, mind you) was a "guest" in Kamakura under Yoritomo's care. This, of course, means they originally had an alliance of sorts. Yoshinaka's son was either promised or actually already married (we don't know - but since these kids were still quite young, we are talking like 10 years old here - the latter is a bit questionable *especially considering how marriage worked back in the day*) to Yoritomo's eldest child, his daughter Ôhime. After Yoshinaka got on Yoritomo's bad side, the boy - despite pleas to spare the child from both his wife and daughter - had to die too. No matter the relationship of the children, Yoritomo's daughter apparently was quite fond of the boy, since she became chronically ill ever since that incident (some depression-related thing, maybe?) and eventually died from her condition. (´；ω；｀)

Tomoe Gozen used Naginata, She was good at the Naginata. Naginata techniques was the necessary accomplishments of a lady from Samurai family Naginata (wielding techniques) is a modern martial art, using a wooden or bamboo sword which looks like the old Japanese weapon called "naginata" (originally, a pole with a wood shaft and a curved blade on its end). The naginata used by men is called Shizuka model named after Shizuka Gozen(MINAMOTO no Yoritomo's favorite concubine), and when it is used by women, it is called Tomoe model named after Tomoe Gozen

I'm way late, but disguising your men as enemy when outnumbered 1 to 10 is a 200 IQ play. Once the proper fighting starts, there is no telling who is who anymore. So whenever a guy on your side stabs someone, in 10 out of 11 cases he will stab an enemy. When a guy on the other side stabs someone, in 10 out of 11 cases he will stab his own friend. Knowing how livestock freak if they see or even hear a riding crop, I'm just imagining what must have been pure chaos of oxen with torches strapped on their horns right in front of their eyes. Oxen: AHHH WHAT CRUEL HELL IS THIS Taira getting barreled down like bowling pins: AHHH WHAT CRUEL HELL IS THIS On a different note, Kiso led me on a rollercoaster of emotions. Based on this series--and this is my first introduction to the historical figure, so I know nothing of Kiso's background leading up to the war beyond Linfamy's videos at the time of writing this comment--I started kind of liking him at the beginning of his campaign, and I sympathize with the common class struggling under Taira rule, but each ass-hatty action thereafter made me think, "Hey! That's not cool." Then he reaches the palace and throws a tantrum because all of his problems can't be solved by punching things, and I'm like, "Ah, serves me right for thinking a medieval warlord could display emotional maturity." Then he had to go and be a dick to the (possibly mythological, maybe a writing device to influence future readers of the Heike Monogatari) badass driving force behind his victories, Tomoe Gozen, and he deserved the arrow to his face, tbh. ... To anyone reading this far, I'd like to share with you the mental image I can't get rid of: Tomoe Gozen as the kitsune Tomoe in "Kamisama Kiss", complete with the anime ears and tail. Enjoy. Sorry.
