There's a lot that's not fair in this video. Going by year 1. I always imagined Hagrid was carrying Harry in a pocket of his coat, which would be the size of a crib for harry. Fluffy is SUPPOSED to be a dangerous creature that would harm students. Dumbledore warns the school beforehand. 2. Aragog wasnt just a friend, it was the only way to clear his name and start to figure out the MURDERS including their very good friend who was a target. Starting after year 2 the relationship between the trio and Hagrid leans way more into them being genuine friends rather than just mentor mentee or student teacher. This gets stronger in book 4. 3. Buckbeak wasnt getting a fair trial due to Malfoy, so hermione and ron decided to help by doing research, something the barely literate Hagrid couldnt do. 4. While the B.E.S. were dangerous to the students during the year, they are SUPPOSED to be during the last trial. He also helps Harry learn what dangerous creature hed be fighting. He doesnt just show harry dangerous stuff for the fun of it, he also teaches him how to be safe and careful around the creatures. Regarding Ritas story, it wasnt just an embarrasing secret. It was a life shattering one. It changed how his colleague's viewed him. It couldve Lost him his job and driven from hogwarts. It dragged his and his dads name through the mud. It put off so many of hia students. Dumbledore himself was okay with him feeling depressed. But not only does blood purity not mean anything to harry, he actively despises it. Hagrid is hagrid no matter who his mom was. 5. Hagrid went to them about grawp because he was a friend and he once again thought he would be driven out of hogwarts. Hagrid has no secrets from harry and doesnt think he shouldbe been protected from info. So he clearly would tell him about his mission. 6. Harry went to Hagrids after dark where teachers are allowed to drink .He was also mourning his oldest friend. None of that is Hagrids fault. Hagrid was an amazing friend and i will not hear him besmirched he made many mistakes and was over zealous with some dangerous things but then again so was every single class in that school.

Ok but why did Hagrid let little Harry & Ron venture into the nest of thousands of giant spiders ALONE & to bother the giant master who, like his children, has a taste for flesh… and those poor boys didn’t even know what they were getting into, just follow the itsy bitsy spiders!🤷‍♀️ if Hagrid knew they needed information why didn’t he personally go to HIS friend & ask, much less accompany the boys. That’s by far his worst crime in my opinion, there’s no excuse for that

The vast majority of Harry Potter fans only know the “always” Snape from the movies who did everything for Harry because of his love for Lily. They don’t know the book Snape who literally asked Voldemort to spare Lily and kill Harry and James. In all fairness in regards to the drinking... Dragon Egg, I assumed the 'hooded figure' was using jedi mind tricks (Imperius) on Hagrid to encourage him to drink. Holing up in cabin, no defence. Aragog's death?! You lose your oldest friend of 50 years and not be tempted into a bender. 🤨
@melindoranightsilver9298
@melindoranightsilver9298 3 күн бұрын
Hagrid likes to drink, the books are pretty honest about that. On top of that, he tends to lean towards the more dangerous creatures because he wants to prove they "aren't bad." He also forgets that as a half giant, he can handle these creatures far more than an average wizard much kess a kid. So I don't think he was under a curse, I think he decided that he got away with it Aragog and Mosag (and their extended family) so why not try again? Only, it was the trio who suffered the consequences, not Hagrid.

I see what you're saying but after a couple read throughs I really notice the adult characters really really lean on alcohol any chance they get, I think there's a couple of scenes where both the Dursley and the Weasley adults immediately reach for a bottle of brandy (Dursleys) or whiskey (Weasleys) while something shocking happens

Also there are several scenes where Hagrid is DRUNK because he's in a sad mood, and it is implied that during the time that he hides in his cabin because of Rita Skeeta he is just drinking and not doing ANYTHING else, theres a line something like "Hagrid hasn't been seen out of his hut, not even to do his regular gamekeeping duties"

I am almost through the second book, for the 1000th time. And I just thought of something I would love your take on, I don’t think you’ve ever mentioned it on your channel. So the basilisk kills when looking into the victims eyes, and petrified if you look at it through something. But what would happen if Harry was under the invisibility cloak and looked at the basilisk? Would he be petrified, or would nothing happen, since the basilisk wouldn’t be able to see him? We know that moody can look through the cloak, but that is the only time we ever know someone to be able to look through the cloak…except for maybe mrs. Norris? We never get confirmation whether she is able to look through the cloak? Maybe this is also true for other animals? I would love to get your take on this? Have you thought of this before?

Who to make a scathing review of?: - Cornelius Fudge (Just every act, decision or action as minister for magic) Truelly the worst person for a position of power. Easily manipulated, and very fearfull of loosing his seat of power by people finding out how unintelligent or unworthy for leadership he trully is. - Harry Potter (Never truelly trusts Dumbledore with his findings or visions) - Dumbledore (Always explain crucial information at the end of every year, instead of sharing bits ever so often.) - McGonagall (When does she actually show/teach the Gryffindor traits/vertues?) Why does she always take points of gryffindor students? She does not at any point explain why and then teaches how to act instead. - Snape (Why does he hate Hermione and Neville so much?) For someone Harry views as the most curages person, he is very pityfull and fearfull. He yearns for approval from Slytherine students, and never disciplines their foul behaviour. Like with Malfoy calling other students "mud blods", but as soon as students from the other houses says or does something out of line from his perspective the get points taken from and/or gives them detentionen. - All in the wizarding world (Why don't they use more usefull muggle inventions like the telephone for communication instead of leathers, the television for broadcasts/entertainment? But use radio's for dissaperience updates) Transportation the muggles have lost, I mean fluepowder or disapparate spell can't beat that. But what is up with brooms for flying? I mean sure witches have been depicted to fly on brooms for hundreds of years. But there should be some newer/smarter inventions to make flying more comfortable or safer. - Magic in the wizarding world (By definition making something out of nothing is magic. Then why is magic in the wizarding world limited to only be able to duplicate an existing thing or changing something from one thing to something els?) I mean there is a lot of cool magic in the wizarding world, but why restraints on magic? Then it's not magic then it's the "magic or science" from "the Sorceress Apprentice" movie from 2010. - Schools in the wizarding world (I haven't heard of language "english/french/bulgarian" classes, that teaches reading/wrighting/speaking or maths/geometry? Are there schools for magical children before the age of 11?) Also getting sorted into four different "houses" in one school is strange. But then the students are not separated in the classrooms? Seems like it's only in quidditch and house points.

Hagrid is like a pitnutter but with magical monsters. Great video! Only things that I'd like to correct: Hagrid and Buckbeak were not innocent. Buckbeak really did attack Malfoy and it was Hagrid's responsibility to keep the students safe what he obviously did not do because Malfoy got hurt. Us not liking Malfoy does not mean he deserved to be attacked. If an animal attacks just for feeling insulted, that animal should not be around students. I know Dumbledore calls Buckbeak innocent but he's really not. When they go back in time he calls Sirius innocent too and while he is innocent of what he was accused of doing, he's not innocent of biting a student causing him not being able to walk. Dumbledore is in the same room with the dog attack victim when he calls that same dog that did that to him innocent. When animals attack people they are not innocent so Dumbledore was wrong about that. Hagrid's heart was not in the right place either. His heart was with monsters and his ego. If you truly love someone, you don't put their life in danger. Yet Hagrid keeps doing that over and over again with his misplaced trust in his monsters.
@abraham2172
@abraham2172 Күн бұрын
Malfoy actively put himself in danger in order to harm Hagrid. He deliberatly provocated Buckbeak to attack him when Hagrid didnt watch. There was no way Hagrid could have prevented this without closely watching him throughout the whole lesson, which he of course didnt do since other students were around too and he didnt know Malfoy was going to cause trouble.
@Hondenzijngevaarlijk
@Hondenzijngevaarlijk Күн бұрын
@abraham2172 Malfoy did not get hurt on purpose. He was not listening to the instructions when Hagrid told them not to insult the hippogryffs because he was talking with Crabbe and Goyle. It's very common for students to not pay attention in class and Hagrid should at the very least have made sure every student was aware of every warning he gave before letting them anywhere near the hippogryffs. Harry had a nasty feeling they were plotting to disrupt the class but Harry having a feeling does not mean they were. Being insulting is just how Malfoy always behaved and getting attacked by a deadly hippogryff was not Malfoy's plan. It didn't just hurt him but it tried to kill him. Hagrid was wrestling Buckbeak back into his collar as it strained to get at Malfoy, who lay curled in the grass, blood blossoming over his robes. In what universe is trying to kill someone because of an insult being innocent? Buckbeak is dangerous and guilty of trying to kill a student.
@Hondenzijngevaarlijk
@Hondenzijngevaarlijk Күн бұрын
@@abraham2172 I just watched the scene in the movie too and in the book Malfoy does not walk towards Buckbeak in an intimidating way like he does in the movie. In the book Buckbeak had already bowed to him and Malfoy insulted him while he was patting his back after being accepted. In both book and movie Malfoy did not hear all of the instructions. Nobody provokes a deathly creature on purpose. There are also other interesting differences between this scene in the movie and the book. In the movie Hagrid stands in between Malfoy and Buckbeak while saying whoa and Buckbeak's name in a stern voice before giving him food. In the book he was wrestling him back into his collar. The difference reflects a shift in popular dog training methods promoted in the media. In the movie Hagrid underestimated how bad Malfoy's injury was by saying it was just a scratch. Hermoine had to tell him to take him to the hospital wing. So that's horrible about movie Hagrid but in the book he does not need to be told that Malfoy needs help and he immediately takes action. He does respond when Malfoy says that he's dying by saying he's not but that's okay because it's in a reassuring way. Sirius Black downplayed the injury he caused too after he mauled Ron's leg by the way. In the movie we don't see blood and we don't see how bad the injury is and people may think that Malfoy is faking but in the book it's very clear that it's a bad injury. There was a long, deep gash in Malfoy's arm. Blood splattered the grass. Blood blossoming his robes. In that moment he is absolutely not faking. Malfoy is injured badly and losing a lot of blood. This was a traumatic experience for him and he was lucky he could be treated in a magical hospital wing. Because of magic I suspect he was healed much faster and completely than a muggle boy would have and I believe he could have been faking how much it still hurt later but that does not change the fact that it was a serious, painful and traumatic attack that should not have happened. In the book Buckbeak is more easily triggered than in the movie but in both situations it's wrong to blame the victim. In both book and movie Hagrid put the students in unnecessary danger. This lesson was much too dangerous and the students didn't feel safe either. At the very least Hagrid should have made sure every single student understood the dangers and all of his instructions. He could have done a theory lesson and a theory test first instead of immediately encouraging students to interact with deathly creatures. Interacting with deathly creatures really should not be happening at all.

@@Hondenzijngevaarlijk I suggest we focus on the book as its the original source directly by the author. I highly doubt Malfoy just overheard the instructions. Hagrid made it very clear to be polite to the hippogryffs because they can be insulted very easily and attack. Malfoy deligeratly and intentionally did the opposite of what Hagrid told them to. Im not sure he meant to get hurt, but he definetely meant to get Hagrid fired.

Just because Hagrid said that Harry could fit in one hand doesn't mean he carried him like that, Harrid was merely saying how small Harry was. And I was always under the belief that Hagrid's breeding of blast ended skrewt was at the request of the Ministry for the final task in the tournament. This is because 1) they were used in the task and 2) there was no investigate or action taken against Hagrid by the Ministry after Rita published he had been breeding them. If they were that illegal people at the ministry or connected to the ministry (Malfoy perhaps) would have pushed for punishment.

I would argue that due to abuse and dealing with the Dementors for years, it stunted Sirius to a degree. Add the fact that he got stuck in the family home-a home he hated, not being able to do what he wanted to do and yeah, one can see why Sirius has some issues. That being said, he stood up for Harry and tried his best.

It's tough, cus Hagrid is like our first good guy in the series. He buys Harry a bunch of cool stuff etc, but the more we learn about him, the more I questioned why he did things the way he did. Like if in the last book Hagrid would have been a death eater, it wouldn't have surprised me. He's like the opposite of Snape. Where with Snape, we always kind of think he's a bad guy, but the more we learn about him, we start to question whether he really is or isn't by his actions (always giving Harry subtle hints etc) then we find out he isn't.

Also, also Dumbledore needs a scathing review. I know you guys are pro Dumbledore, but… he leaves Harry in an abusive home and does nothing about it because abuse victims are easier to control. He’s raising child soldiers to fight this war. He’s raising Harry as a pig for slaughter (I’m not giving him credit for the glint of triumph.). And let’s not forget that he didn’t actually properly prepare Harry for the mission he was given. At the end of Goblet he tells Fudge a laundry list of things he needs to do now that Voldemort is back, but it’s too late to do anything except remove the dementors. He had 13 years to befriend giants and werewolves to sway them to his side and did nothing. Also, also look at how he treats Sirius. My theory is that he left Sirius in Azkaban so that he couldn’t interfere with Dumbledore’s plans for Harry. It would be much harder if Harry had a parental figure in his life. He also lets Sirius starve in a cave for a year during Goblet. Does he achieve the greater good? Sure. Does he do some evil things to get there. Most definitely.

Literally shut up, he did not leave Harry in an abusive home to control him, he did it because it was the place where he literally could not be touched by Voldemort and dumbledore didn’t want Harry to die go figure, he did not agree with or like the way the dursleys treated Harry, evident by his treatment of them in half blood prince, he obviously did not know Sirius was innocent because wormtail made it not appear that way to 50 witnesses and they already knew there was a spy before and this just massively confirms that, and even after Sirius is back in Harry’s life the only reason dumbledore tries to contain Sirius is because he didn’t want him to get himself killed because he knew how reckless and headstrong Sirius was which is exactly what happened btw, he even says himself that it should have been that start of a long and happy relationship, and as for you not giving him credit for the gleam of triumph is you just refusing to accept the meaning of the text because there is literally nothing else that gleam could even be referring too, Harry just told him how Voldemort came back using Harry’s blood, if he doesn’t realize Harry has a way back then there is literally no reason for him to have a gleam at all, finally he did prepare Harry for his quest, by teaching him about the deep power of choices and friendship and love, by showing him Voldemorts memories, Harry was able to understand voldy and find the horcruxes because he knew how voldy would think, people like you who slander dumbledore are all too busy looking for someone to blame that you can’t even take one second to be thankful to the one person who was always there standing against the forces of darkness while still providing a guiding hand when it mattered most, go away

Yeah I honestly don’t understand why he didn’t just train and prepare Harry from a young age, give him every advantage possible while also instilling good morals and behaviour onto him, I feel like Harry was definitely given the worse start possible as a human and wizard alike. Edit: there wouldn’t be a story I guess or the story as we know it if that was the case.

I dont agree with your points about Sirius at all. He never knew Sirius was innocent until PoA so of course he was fine with Sirius being in Azkaban, it has nothing to do with his plans for Harry. As for how Sirius languished in a cave starving and alone for the entirety of GoF, well Dumbledore simply had no knowledge of this, so there's nothing he could have done.
@KudaKeileon
@KudaKeileon 2 күн бұрын
Most of your points have an incorrect premise. Him leaving Harry with the Dursleys has nothing to do with abuse victims being easier to control and everything to do with the Bond of Blood. Teaching children how to perform magic in a society where you teach children how to perform magic is not raising child soldiers. Third point is correct. He very much tried to properly prepare Harry, but a lot happened that he couldn't have foreseen. It's not too late for Fudge to do anything, Fudge just won't listen. Werewolves aren't a consolidated society (and are often secretive about their nature) and yeah he probably could have sent Hagrid to the giants early. Alone. Yeah. Dumbledore had no idea Sirius was innocent until the end of Prisoner, after he'd already broken out. It has nothing to do with controlling Harry. It was about keeping Harry safe from a convicted murderer. I don't even remember what Sirius is up to in Goblet so I have no opinion on that.

Why was Hagrid not allowed to use magic after he was cleared in year 2? Was it because they technically couldn’t prove it was Voldemort,but it was somehow enough to get him out of Azkaban? I will say though Robbie Coltrane played the role perfectly. He brought so much warmth to the role. His loss was felt very hard when he passed. I remember not long after he passed I was watching Chamber Of Secrets and it got to the scene at the end where he is back from Azkaban and comes to the great hall and like everyone gives him a massive round of applause and claps and cheers for him I just burst into tears. I was bawling. There was a waterfall on my face. I do truly fear for the upcoming HBO series because half the people in the OG movies just were so perfectly cast. They made those roles and it will be hard to see anyone else step into those roles and bring the same energies.

A minute ago? There's nearly an entire day, a day in which the entire wizarding world learns that Harry survived the Killing curse. Witnesses to that event, Lilly, Tom, and Harry. By the time anyone else shows up the dead is done. And yet the entire wizarding world knows about an event from which no one is available to give witness. My personal theory is that Hagrid took baby Harry down to the Leaky Cauldron and presented him like some kind of pries while telling everyone he'd survived the killing curse. It's the only thing that makes Harry's sudden climb to fame make sense.
