Exploring the unique music and culture of Houston hip hop. This conference is presented by the University of Houston Libraries, the HERE Project at Rice University, African American Studies at the University of Houston, and the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Center for the Arts at the University of Houston. It also introduces to the public the Houston Hip Hop Archives Network, a partnership developed by the HERE Project and the University of Houston Libraries for preserving the artifacts of Houston hip hop.

At around 50:00 she said how pat learnin bout the bars...thts how it was for me,I always thought a bar was the two rhyming lines together,so wen I started writing instead of freestyle with all my friends at parties or whatever I was writing 32 bar verses...till my cuzzin n I went to write a track together n he cut me off halfway through n said tht was my 16...Love all the s.u.c and have for awhile now,I may have been late being yung n from cali but for at least 10 out of 23yrs I have strictly listened to artists influenced by screw and Houston artists in general..nice to have found this in here! Much love to all fans of the music from the south,n much respect to the ones who made it so.

I started listening back when Swangin and bangin came out....at 11 my mom asked me why or how I knew all the words to that "gangster" music, but it was too late, I WAS ALREADY ON TO THE NEXT ONE which is my favorite of all time, 3am part 2. I thank 97.9 the box for playing ESG On that radio that day, and my love for his unique style was met there. His music was and still is amazing and inspiring.
