I fell and hit my head on the edge of a sidewalk suffering a broken arm, hand, a brain bleed and concussion at 77. I always loved the current Japanese imperial couple and their daughter Princess Aiko who just graduated from university and is now working for the Red Cross. They are very respectful and both educated in Oxford, with the Empress did her BA at Harvard in economics. The late QEII and Prince Philip, and our current King have been friends with them for decades. It’s really delightful to see them meet again after all these years. ❤

We recently visited an Irish pub owned by real Irish people (not a chain restaurant) serving real Irish food and my husband and son had a few pints of some stout Irish red ale and lamb shank colcannon. My daughter and l had the lamb stew. Absolutely heavenly. I’m sure it was nowhere near as good as actually eating in Ireland. I’m so happy your American experience was one that left you smiling. I can’t wait to visit and meet your people; y’all are renowned for your hospitality and ability to never meet a stranger. And you serve really good booze, my tolerance is low but I’d dang sure have a roaring time!

I live near Washington D.C. where we were gifted cherry trees by the Japanese emperor about a century ago. Apparently our climate is similar to Tokyo, and most of the trees have flourished. If you can’t visit Japan, stop here for our cherry blossom festival some year! I think you’ll find that D.C. is quite fruity.

I just learned that the Williamson pink diamond broach is worth 33 million dollars and is one of the most expensive and rarest diamonds in the Queen's collection. Because the head injury interrupts the process of memory being transferred from the hippocampus, where short-term memory is stored, to the temporal lobe, where long-term memory is stored, it is very common for memory loss to occur during a TBI. And, it is very likely that she will never recall the actual injury-causing event because, with the transference process being interrupted, the memory will most likely be permanently lost. But, that doesn't necessarily mean that there will be permanent damage to her short- or long-term memory.

Anyone who spends time with horses ends up injured eventually. They're huge animals and things just happen. Accidentally stepping on toes, wack by the head, startled kick/jump.

@@marywalker2896 I agree there's idiots out endangering kids, but there's also kids raised with horse sense where the danger is minimal. I wouldn't let my niece be in control of my horse at 12 but had no issue with my 6 year old son with the same horse. The difference is one was raised with horses and one wasn't. I still wouldn't allow my niece to be in control and she's in her 30s.

I spent my teen years working around horses & my dad owned a couple of mares for a time. I have been thrown twice that I remember & stepped on plenty. I have seen broken bones & bites & ripped out hair.

River, you're absolutely correct about the slippery slope in blurring the lines between royalty and celebrity. It is inadvisable for royals to follow that route. Once lost, royal status cannot be recovered.
