**Thank You** for these recordings. I remember seeing the Skaneateles Shortline many times as a child in the late sixties and seventies, even downtown on Fennell Street. I watched Dad for many hours as he created a splendidly detailed HO scale layout of the short line in its steam years, hand making the locomotives, rolling stock and buildings. I recognized the station in the film as one he modeled. 14:04 As a kid, I took a nasty spill on my bike when my front wheel got caught between the track and pavement downtown near the stone mill. Then I remember as they started pulling up the rail, coming into Skaneateles from Mottville. Maybe someday I will model this myself: GE 44-tonners are dear to my heart. 😊💜😊💜😊

My uncle lived in Galton by the bridge by the dam and worked on the WAG and then when they tor it up. Got to see 👀 the center cabs in the shop and yard many years ago. 😢

The last of the Ford GE's, WAG #1700, is at the Lake Shore Railway Museum, NorthEast PA. Really spiffed up, like most of their exhibits. Worthwhile visit, right next to 2 busy main lines,

Absolutely wonderful video! These RRs were slightly out of our area, but I remember Niagara Junction and their electrics along the main road into Niagara Falls. I can hear that RS-1 turbo whistling!

Those center cars were delivered to Ford. Were really sexy with chromed handrails, cab windows even on front grilles. Google GE Ford locomotive

The Model Railroad club is the CNY model railroad and historical society. Skan had the 44 ton GE and it’s still operating in the same pint to this day as LBR 1946?

I have a short book on the W.A.G. but I never expected to ever see actual footage of the railroad. I wonder what percentage of tractive effort is lost when the rails are well-lubricated with slippery plant matter.
