Matt guides listeners through a simple practice of self-compassion that you can use any time you are feeling ungrounded, off-center, caught in a spiral of shame, anxious, hurt, or scared, as a way to meet yourself with love and kindness, and to come back into center.
The purpose of this and all of Matt’s guided meditations is to help you to rest with your nervous system, a series of embodied practices you can do whenever you want to feel more grounded or centered, open or connected, or at any time you feel drawn to explore your experience and care for yourself in a nourishing, compassionate way.
If it feels safe enough to close your eyes during the meditations, this might help you turn inward and open to the wisdom of your unfolding, emerging experience. If for any reason closing your eyes feels unsafe, or uncomfortable, you may open them at any time, including for the whole time, without any concern that doing so will interfere with the meditation.
If, during the meditations, you start to feel overwhelmed with images, feelings, sensations, memories, anxiety, or fear, end the meditation and trust the intelligence of your body and nervous system to know when you’ve had too much.
Ultimately, these are meditations of safety, of openness, warmth, and exploration, and of resting and journeying with your nervous system as an ally, companion, and friend.
