I’m an avid 3P collector. FT’s Trailbreaker also had a long wait time. I kept my preorders on BBTS and when it came out they did give me a slight discount from the new Retail price it got once released. I still have Blitzwing on order and I expect BBTS to do the same for him. The Trailbreaker FT put out was a diff design than the original tease. It makes sense that Blitz will follow the same path. I speculate that the reason is because since those original preorders went up Takara changed the style of the MP figures to be more toon accurate. FT has always strived to compliment the MP mainline and not be in direct competition for it. FT’s releases of late have also updated their aesthetic to fit. Nice Vid Ken!

Thx Brian! And what you said about the changes to be more toon accurate make sense. I know a lot of my early MPs dont have the toon accurate eyes, etc. Here's hoping Fanstoys collectors see Blitzwing soon!

Good video. I did the same thing with Xtransbots' Galvatron. I canceled that order, which had been pre-ordered for year and a half, and picked up the reissue of Fans Toys' Galvatron. As far as Blitzwing goes, I have Star Toys', which was $120. It's a GREAT G1 take on the character for the fraction of the price of what Fans Toys will cost whenever it comes out.

For my MP collecting, I'm limiting myself to characters in MTMTE (the first animated 3-part story). I have mostly Takara, but have jumped on Fans Toys recently.

luckily for me i'm sticking mainly to the first season G1 characters minus the mini bots with the exception of Bumblebee. On the decepticon side I am finally complete with Star Toys Blitzwing and the Fans Toys Astrotrain. I just need Takara to release an official Jazz and Mirage and my Autobot side will be complete as well.

I preordered animation accurate figures all of the G1 chracters in 1984 (in my mind), and had to wait for nearly 40 to get them from Hasbro. Does that count? Years of junk that looked awful so I never collected the toys beyond the odd MP. Now I collect mainline and MP, official and 3P. My Star Toys Blitzwing is close to being delivered! The longest real preorder is about 2 years and the order was cacncelled...I can't even remember which figure it was!

From what I recall, DX9 and KFC toys announced theirs, so Fanstoys announced one as a counter, knowing their brand was more popular at the time. It worked, as I preordered and initially passed on the other two, lol. Then they had to prioritize other projects. Actually almost all my Dinobots are Fanstoys.

I have the DX9 Gerwalt and I really like him. I think the jet mode is especially excellent. I have the Star Toys and his bot mode is excellent. Just need the perfect tank mode now.

Loved the thoughtful presentation. I still haven't bought in to 3rd party (with one exception, the God of Flame Macross Jetfire piece actually licensed by Harmony Gold and I do adore it) mainly due to the costs involved... But I appreciate the craft when they're done correctly! I think it's kind of appropriate that your Blitzwing and Astrotrain come from the same company. Sentimentally, for me, it keeps them from the same family. I appreciate that. This was diverting. You're appreciated. Subscribed.

I don't do pre orders for this reason alone; that 7yr preorder and even after ST-01 Commander (not Blitzwing) dropped, they STILL did not release a FT version!!! I don't even care anymore. Blitzwing is my favorite decepticon and I am so mad at FT for doing us like that.

FT'll probably release theirs eventually. I think they got caught up trying to get in on preorders because DX9 and KFC took their preorders back in 2016 and they wanted their slice.

Great video. The besides the preorder I have on this one xtb Springer took the longest. Like you I got tired of waiting and got the dx9, then the star toys came out and I got that and like it better. But we’ll see if fans toys ever comes out, if not I’m happy with Star toys.

I preordered the mezco 89 Batman, 3 years It took to come out but before it did I decided to cancel. I are the non refundable deposit but after seeing the final product in reviews and live streams I made the right choice.

The only Masterpiece I have is Soundwave. I got the Takara version as I wanted red eyes. I really do like how his transformation isn't crazy. I do hope they do a new version of Soundwave in the new smaller scale.

There was never a doubt that it was an import figure you were talking about. I did something similar with the Toynami Robotech Saber Cyclone that never got produced. But I think I only held out for 2 years.

Much like yourself, I'm aiming to complete the first two seasons but boy is it hard. I'm finding collecting the missing Decepticons a particular challenge, I haven't been too impressed with any of the Coneheads so far but it doesn't look like anyone else is going to attempt these.

I actually got the iGear Coneheads in 2011 when they were still around. Theres some decent versions out there.

I'm very happy with the Toy World coneheads, but they're hard to find now. A bit taller than takara but scale perfectly with the deformation space seekers.

I got Star Toys Blitzing and even though it doesn't have the paint of a typical Fans Toys TF, it's sculpt and hardware is very good and I am happy with it for now... I am sure that when FTs Berserk comes out whenever that is that it will feel most premium compared to any of the competitors.. I did order Berserk and have not cancelled it as of yet.... The only other Tfs that I can put in the same category of a long wait for a PO is Fans Toys Bandit and the last 2 Aerialbots......

I gave up on Masterpiece because it was getting expensive, shelf space for me is limited & also waiting for product to be released. X-Transbots' Galvatron still hasn't been released & i gave up on that. I decided to go to Legends scale & haven't looked back. BTW Is that a pic of you & Bret Hart in the background? Congrats to him on getting his Canadian Walk of Fame Star today

Just upgraded to the Startoys from KFC, I'm not waiting on the FT the ST fits my collection just fine only thing the ST is missing is a premium paint job other than that it's by far the best rendition of the character to date. The only thing I want from FT is for them to finish their Menasor how long have we all been waiting to finish this one.

I have spent YEARS trying to finish the set of Dinobots for my MP collection. I only have Slag left to get now, but Fanstoys hasn't re-released Cesium or Scoria yet, and I canceled my fully paid up order for Gigapower Grassor after an entire year of waiting. TCP said they couldn't get the figure in and didn't know if they would ever again. By now, I've been "priced out" of collecting as I refuse to pay anything over $225

Sometimes its you either preorder or you dont get it. Its one and done your only chance to get it cheap or hope to find it from a reseller or scalper. Longest I have waited is 2 years before I cancelled Now I only have a limit of patience for about a year.

Maketoys released IDK how many years ago their Hyper novae aka Nova Prime, which I thought was one of the most amazing looking figures I had ever seen. It was sold out and the aftermarket price was ridiculous. Fast forward a couple years later and a KO of the toy was announced and I immediately place a preorder on ShowZ store. Over the pandemic I had to cancel the preorder, by then the figure had been announced for 2-3 years. The figure is still remains on preorder and I don't know if it'll ever release.

It's a Hit or miss for me, on pre-orders catch 22 some I pre-order some pay whenever they ship but if you missed out because didn't have the money @ the time others I paid up-front so I just have to wait but like you said who knows when they will arrive, The four horsemen mythic/cosmic legions seem the wait time 6 months to a year. The problem is if you miss the figure 2nd market rapes you raw. Great Topic to discuss. 👍

The fans toys figures don't seem to be selling out quite like they used to do a small UK based online store has lots of different figures of there's in stock and you need not justify yourself cancelling your pre order as 7 years is ridiculous to have to wait for your order to be fulfilled. It's crazy

I have a couple MP's in my collection but tbh, Fans Toys, Xtransbots and other 3rd party companies do it better, usually for cheaper. I understand the pain of waiting but I remember waiting around 5 years for TF's Acoustic Wave(Soundwave) since I pre-ordered and was well worth the wait.

True, third party companies are a bit cheaper. However they don't have to follow safety guidelines like the 'real' companies. I recently found out that Black Mamba figures use paint with lead in. I wrote to Fans Toys customer service and was told their paint is lead-free. Those are the only two I have solid information on.

I waited as well for a long time. I will still probably get Berserk once it comes out because Thomas is so good. DX9 figures are solid and well built. I really liked this figure, but it was the Tank mode that turned me off. If the turret was more like Startoys or KFC style turret I'd probably have this figure in my collection. The only DX9 figure I ever bought and kept was DX9 Carry (Rodimus Prime) was a solid figure.

To be fair to FansToys, no pre-order announced 7-8 years ago was official, but at this point quite a few sellers made a habit of putting POs up as soon as FT announces new figure(s). Now, I do agree that FT should not announce it before they know most things are sorted, but the old Blitzwing POs shouldn't be taken against them. :) Since there was no info about FT Blitzwing and I wasn't taking any chances on KFC Ditka that might not be able to stand on its own, I decided to get a DX9 as it went for a really good price on recent re-issue, with plan to display it in jet mode with my MP-11 Seekers once FT or somebody else release something I like more. Little did I know that StarToys will announce their "Not Blitzwing" less than 10 days later!! XD Now, I still like DX9 Gewalt, it is a solid figure, but I would pass on him if I knew StarToys Blitzwing will be announced so soon (and shipped in few months :D ), as I prefer it is more toon accurate and not as bulky as Gewalt, which makes it a better (but not perfect!) fit with FT Astrotrain. :) However, there is a silver lining there, since StarToys is allegedly TransformElement/Deformation Space, which has a strange habit of cutting the price of their figures by 50% after some time so I'm willing to wait. At worst case scenario, 2nd hand market will be flooded with cheap Gewalts, Ditkas and Not Blitzwings once FT finally releases their Blitzwing so waiting is probably the best option at this time. :)

Most 3p don't make you wait this long, especially if the only thing available is a preorder based off a render. I think fanstoys are gonna release this eventually but there's pretty much every major character for everyone
