1:00:16 House on the far left side was ours for 17 years. We moved out and headed to Texas in 2022. Thank you for showing some better areas of Danville this time. I know it takes some searching.

Another great video Chris! I'm surprised you haven't done an Illinois video of Cicero yet. Lots of history and corruption went down there.👍
@chrishardenarchives6 ай бұрын
Hmm maybe I’ll try to on my next trip out there!
@69eddieD6 ай бұрын
@@chrishardenarchives If you do Cicero you have to look up Betty Loren-Maltese; mayor, mob wife, and felon. She's a colorful character in a town rich with mob and gang history.

One thing I find awesome is no matter where we are we're never lost. With the maps and street names at the bottom along with the date and time. It's like the next best thing to actually being there. Quality put in these videos you don't find on other channels!

The south side neighborhood shown at first is s very safe area. Older homes and some abandoned places, but safe. The old school you show has been closed since 79. After you cross 4 th street bridge your leaving city into unincorporated area, formerly boarded by city landfill. Again maybe not pretty but safe and afrordable.

Shocking, heartbreaking...a sucker punch to the gut. The soundtrack really drives it home. No file footage from this creator. He has been there and done all the background history and current conditions evaluation. You really see and feel economic devastation and you will learn from the other video why it happened. Unique art with a message. Thanks to Chris I see and experience wherever I go in a deeper and more meaningful way.

Too bad Danville is a mess. It looks like it has good potential. I enjoyed this video.😊❤
@69eddieD6 ай бұрын
Maybe it had good potential. It was already crap when I was at the U of I (right down I-74) in 1980. People do keep their homes neat, which is nice.
@slee-hayward21693 ай бұрын
My family is from there and it still has a lot of potential, if only the city leaders would do a proper job of tapping into it and embracing the towns history with an eye on the future it could be a pretty great place to be once again!

This is where I grew up till I was about 8-9 years old. 50:27 we used to play in that parking lot in front of the brick building you see with shopping carts we took from the grocery store we didn't have bikes our house was in the grass lot next to the green house you see. The brick building you see is the school district 118 admin offices and we used to strip the soda machine clean of sodas. 50:47 the building on the left used to have construction equipment there and we used to climb fence and play on it at night. 51:00 is where I used to hit the switch on the RR Track when cars were coming and make the crossing arms come down44:31 is the church we attended.

I think Danville has to be top five of the most rural rustbelt cities out there. More abandoned factories than abandoned homes.
@motivationperseverance30776 ай бұрын
Danville still looks pretty nice 👍. You tried your best to make it look bad but it didn't work. If you really want to see bad go through a lot of towns in Ohio and Pennsylvania or different places in Indiana.

I grew up south of Chicago. Yup, there is a lot of blight, but there were good areas too. Homewood, Flossmoor and Olympia Fields all had charm. But, I was glad to leave.

It's really sad because when I was growing up when you wanted the best of everything you got it from Danville it was the best in medical care best in doctors. When it got to be around the holidays or special occasion you went there to shop because all the big stores were there meaning in the chain stores. You bought all your other things locally! But it was the place to go you planned a day or two days when you went But then again we were next to Paris Illinois and we would definitely go there at least once a week if not more and we probably run into Chrisman twice a week but Chrisman basically does not exist except for the schools. Paris still has some factories but the downtown is gone One store survives basically that's Walmart and then we have I guess Dollar general Dollar tree and DG market and a few gas stations and some chain restaurants

Chris you nailed with the soundtracks however the demographic of danville goes to extreme opposite ends from poverty to higher than average middle class illnois living my grandfather worked for gm but worked in the chicago suburbs and the 96' closing of the foundry was devastating for that town it's ashame quaker oats is closing too... was illinois' taxation to blame or companies outsourcing I wonder... great video

There are a few cities that are ok but yeah a lot of the state is economically depressed.

Exactly opposite the rest of Illinois is bad because of Shitcago unfortunately. Many years ago it wasn't like this but this is what liberalism does it's like a parasite it sucks it's host dry "Chicago " then it moves on. The rest of the state suffers because of the failed policies of that town. You can't tax your way into prosperity.
