Being one year away from retirement, I can't allow myself to engage in razor envy. That is a gorgeous razor and would be a solid lifetime investment for a newer hobbyist especially with the option to go up a base plate.

Great shave Mark! One thing I wanted to point out and I'm not sure if you noticed, but the Drakkant actually has a different angle of shaving. It's set to shave at a 24 degree angle (almost like you're riding the cap) instead of the traditional 30 degree angle of most DEs. And yes the Drakkant is an excellent head shaver! That's what I bought mine for and absolutely love it! It has taken down 1 days worth of growth comfortably and even up to 5 days of heavy growth just as smooth and comfortable. Such a great smooth razor!

Jacob, thanks for this update. I'll take notice of this in my next shave. Imay have been altering the angle without knowing. I did have great blade feel throughout the shave. Definitely going to use this for ahead shave.

Beth, while the end tabs of a blade being slightly exposed isn't a deal breaker for me, I really prefer having them fully enclosed in the razor head. One less thing to worry about.

The Mach 3 is a three bladed cartridge razor? I use that, at times, for a head shave. Mostly when I'm pressed for time.

Great thorough review Mark on the gift of a very generous viewer. Nice shave too! There is an interview by Latherhog(Jon) that interviews the owner of Aylsworth and touches on the design inspiration. I believe a Viking hammer like in the Marvel Thor movie. The wrap around the hammer is like the handle design. Pretty cool id say. I have this with the plus plate on my list.

Great Shave, Great Video. I believe it’s the supply razor that “performs like a Ferrari built like a Tesla” forgive me if I got that wrong. This to me looks like the Lamborghini version. The Lamborghini Drakkant if you will. Love the look of that razor. My apologies if you mentioned it already but is other baseplates more aggressive or the same I’d need something a bit more aggressive if I was and hopefully will purchase.

Robert, yes, you are correct. Supply's taglineis "built like a tank, drives like a Tesla." I borrowed it a bit. but I believe your Lamborghini example is better. Yes, the razor does come with two other plates, both more aggressive. A plus Plate and an Open Comb plate.

Great shave Mark! I really want to try this razor but I hate blade feel. My razors of choice are the Rockwell 6S, 2 and 3 plate, PAA Meta-4 and the Fat Boy setting 2 and 3. Does the Drakkant have more blade feel than these in your opinion?

As a left handed shaver I can say yes, the barber pole knurling is a little more slippery. It isn’t a deal breaker for me or anything that serious but it is there a little bit.

Both razors are outstanding! The Drakkant's shave, IMHO, is in the same ballpark with the Overlander. However, since making this video, viewers have informed me that the Drakkant has a slightly different angle of approach...24 degrees. I adjusted in follow up shaves and it does add some refinement. I'm be happy shaving with either one. In fact used them both last week and got similar results. I just had to be aware of that slight angle change when using the Drakkant. Plus, the Drakkant is stainless and the Karve is brass. So the material gives each a different feel to the shave.

I'm curious as to the term "forged" that they use. I see no reason why any part of the razor would need to be forged, or are they just using the word in place of "manufactured".

Chris, I cannot speak for Aylsworth, but my guess is the word's use is more figurative than literal.
