Near the end of the video: this wasn't a bear attack! Glad the bear never came back. People leaving food out like that should be fined.

Steve, I really admire you and your channel. Not everyone is capable of doing this type of work, I know I couldn't. I'll admit it, I'm just not the type to be involved in this type of work. God Bless you Steve and keep as many of your Bears alive.

I have really a hard time to accepting this inmature behaviour tourists and some citizens show.... do they need to be live on site and experience the shooting of a bear ... just for their entertainment, huh?! Thank you Steve. You do a great work and have a big heart for the wildlife.

Wow! Steve is incredibly patient with these humans.. I’m guessing the bears are easier to train. Thanks! More people should watch this channel.. learning a thing or two wouldn’t hurt.😉😁

Feeding the birds brings so much pleasure to people so it's a real shame that it has a negative consequence regarding bears associating another food source with humanity. I bet most people who feed birds are responsible people who don't leave their food waste where bears can get at it... Anyway I'm sure bird feeders can be sited out of reach of bears ? I'm thinking about all the ways of getting them higher off the ground with a pulley system from a handy branch of a tree or a line between buildings or tall posts . Even resorting to electric fencing a feeding area off in areas where bears are getting to be regulars. Of course some people love to have bears drop in on them and that joy overides their civic responsibility to everyone else , they'll be trying to ignore the fact that they are teaching a bear that around humans there is a chance of an easy meal. It's that thinking that gets a bear up close with people ...once a bear is up close and unafraid, getting familiarised the chances of some physical challenge over who owns the food or the place itself You won't get far showing a bear the deeds or telling it you're doing a meat free May...so the McDonald's leftovers is all yours Mr bear..misunderstandings are common bluff charges. and even a blow from a bear meant as a warning can kill people... females with cubs ,males in the season, injured or hungry bears can be shockingly violent and are much quicker than most people realise, covering all types of terrain between you that means when thinking of a safe distance between a bear with you as it's target and you fumbling for that spray it's never enough distance on the day ..think of a safe distance and double it. How long have you got to escape to safety .? halve it. Don't get in a bears space. The short faced bear prevented humans from ever crossing the Bearing straights land bridge until it's mysterious extinction during the Pleistocene along with so many other species that comprises the mega fauna of North America . These bears were less ambiguous...they were definitely carnivores, Top of the food chain, Very pro active predators that hunted us down ...come straight at yer mean as a 10ft Ratel or a wolverine on steroids. If nobody survived to tell the tale I'm not sure how we know this...One predator held back our migration for thousands of years ...it must have been discussed! Anyway our bears today are a lot less like the short faced bear that had attack mode like an on off switch. We CAN all get along . I'm English where we killed all of our brown bears. They would need us if they were ever to return. Rather like the lynx and the wolf ( 16 large mammals were "lost" ... Killed by the human hand.) many European countries also wiped every predator out but are rejoicing at their natural returning.... They can do that being part of the Eurasian super continent. The British public and their government have the moral dilemma because the British Isles became disconnected from the rest of Europe isolating all these 16 beautiful creatures who then fell to our short sighted practice if not, often policy of total annihilation. The final thought I offer is the peace accords struck up between the SAN PEOPLES OF THE KALIHARI and the local prides of Lions...yes...LIONS!! Incredibly it proves it can be done. We co evolved with some fearsome beasts indeed. Yet we too as intelligent cooperative hunters were also very dangerous even to lions. It would make sense for two species both top hunters to reach a peace accord and share territory. Even SAN children could walk safely on their own at night near lions with no fear of being killed. Amazing...life being more pleasant for both species. The deal was reinforced by leaving each other occasional tribute in the form of the odd zebra leg etc...it would take the recognition of the deadly talents of each other but clearly the level of intelligence and understanding of what a peace accord even means. There are ways of living alongside beautiful deadly creatures. It was notable how the accord crumbled whenever the Herero cattle herding tribes populated the shared areas . Gatherer hunters can reach peace accords with predators...it looks like cattle herders and lions will always be enemies at least from the people who domesticated grazers point of view ! .....?

can't believe the bear was shot..at the end of the day you chose to build your homes in bear County knowing fine well the risks of any bear entering your cabins..where else are these bears suppose to live now that you keep on building on bear society and pushing these animals further and further out just because you love the area and views and decide to build cabins and making it a so called town of your own..absolutely disgraceful and very typical of you Americans..

@@roxanneweichinger9318 it's like when they take themselves off camping in bear country, with their food stored in their tents etc then they complain that the were attacked by a bear or felt they needed to fire shots to scare the bears away 🙈I mean really..a bear isn't going say to itself "ooh there's some campers with a ton of food I best not approach them"... seriously they might aswell just hand themselves on a plate to these animals.

@@joannebinks8849 , I bet when these completely clueless campers complain about the bears bothering them the park rangers probably roll their eyes! I’m pretty sure that they warn visitors(probably several times every day) NOT to feed, or get too close to any of the wildlife, that once an animal associates humans with food it’s over. But people NEVER listen, and it’s always the bears that get the short end of the stick! The ONLY way to stop this madness is I think that there should be a federal law where there are HEFTY $30,000 fines for anyone who gets caught feeding wild animals,$60,000 for anyone who try’s to approach or harass them, and an $80,000 fine plus ten years in prison for anyone who unlawfully kills an animal in the park.On top of that ALL the U.S. national parks should be allowed to tell visitors from here on out before they enter the park that if they don’t follow the safety guidelines and do something STUPID to get attacked then the park WON’T be responsible for any injuries or deaths, and the animal WILL NOT get put down. I know this all sounds insane but like I said in my first comment, common sense doesn’t exist any more. If the public is DEAD serious about saving the remaining wildlife populations then this is the ONLY option left. 😌Didn’t mean for this comment to be so long.

@@roxanneweichinger9318 I agree 1000%..if these rangers made it law that when these idiots(visitor's)enter into bear country that there will be no shooting of any bear regardless and will be a huge fine then I wonder how many would actually camp in bear territory 🤔
