Please do a video on the rise of consumerism! I feel like that would be highly educational and eye opening.

I am a natural, born minimalist. I inherited minimalism life as a child from my parents. For Xmas I would only ask for one or 2 things as presents I wanted. I didn't have lots of toys, because I enjoyed outdoors riding my horse rather than playing with toys. I saw my parents save money by consuming less. They saved money to pay for their home, paid cash for their vehicles. I use the same concept. I have always paid cash for my vehicles. I don't buy lots of clothes or things I don't need. When something is no longer needed I learned to sell, give it away or donate it. I do have lots of books and 3 dogs as those bring me joy and have purpose in my life.

My idea of minimalism came from Matt D'Avella and the minimalists documentary. In a world that we want to buy everything that we see, minimalism can do a lot for us.

The emptiness of materialism is the root cause of materialistic obsession. Hence the the cycle of unhappiness. Break the wheel possession and find the true meaning of existence.

This was great content. I enjoyed it. Also, the digital minimalism needs to be practiced in my life. It’s easy to say leave your phone alone when the important email was sent to your phone, transfer your balance on your phone, write that text on your phone, watch great YT on your phone, watch the news on your phone, etc. It’s over whelming for sure:/ Gotta work on minimizing again because I have also noticed stuff creep back in :/

We had to totally clear off our kitchen counters last week so that they could be measured, as we are having them replaced. I had no idea how much having clutter on the counters affected my internal peace. It sounds silly, but I am now trying to keep them totally clear because I actually can tell not having that stuff in view on the counters gives me a bigger sense of calmness in my home! I've since cleared my nightstand and bathroom counter totally as well.

Look through the books and ask "will I read this again? Do I like this book? Is it necessary to own this book rather than borrow it from the library?" Hope this helps

Great video! If anyone would like to delve into the history of minimalism more, I recommend the book Simple Living in History, by Samuel Alexander. He covers from the ancients, to the far East, to the Amish, and to the hippie movement. I personally usually read about simple living more because minimalism often has a middle class to upper middle class modern aesthetic, and that's not what I'm seeking or how I live.

I just found you and love your content, your messages are fresh! I follow many minimalist and you said things I have not heard yet. My only suggestion is to slow down a little, I want to absorb all you have to say... I needed to go back and re listen as you speak very quickly. Your videos could entail so much more info if you slow it down a little. Thank you for all you do🌹

Yesterday I watched a women talking about Saving! So important! So I started a new budget. Today I have moved my weekly meal plan to monthly. Cooking more. And I have a weekly time management folder for my homemaking as well as my daily priority list. I also can't survive without a calender. Planning is so essential.

The real minimalism comes from ancient India, it's called aparigraha and means that one should only use things that they need, in the proportion that they need and nothing more

Nice Video! Thoreau was more of a naturalist on a quest to a Spiritual Journey. Believe me I have better things to do than watch ants all day! Woodstock was irresponsible! But I get it & feel you. Today's technology is crazy & you do have to be on your phone to keep in the groove.

I'm don't truly approve of this ed-video pertained towards minimalism as a society or a singular person having a need to minimize while heading towards the 21/22nd century-reason(s) being as followed: Gabe, you are stating minimalism in several forms didn't exist until at the hippy movement which isn't fair, considering, the gypsy lifestyle was a continuous, passionate movement of inner being. Furthermore, it is not of time but rather, the application of word MINIMALISM that came about as opposed to, back say whenever before the industrial world. The mojority people lived with what were local. In essence, YOU DID WITH WHAT YOU HAD and had minimal effort or reason to consider THE PURCHASE OF A EUROPEAN item by example. Yes, we figured out how to LINK NECESSITIES long before the industrial and the digital world but the being of minimalism existed but by way of daily life and not due the phenomenon of its defefinition in the 21st e-commerce. Back-way-when [pick a PHUCIN date bro], a way of life change due to poli-bizz (political business) or due to colonist strategy which blindly numbed our society in particular a less fortunate demographics. Indeed you mentioned specific names and periods but, it shouldn't isolate individual thoughts of today. Minimalism was not CREATED over time or has it been a growth other than the its defefinition of societies well-being as should be, generations to come. Gabe Bult... I am impressed with your need to exercise many minds. To prove a difference between then and now or how we nestle a overwhelming tomorrow due to limited insight. What would shame my being associated with your good vast knowledge is to have those not use their eyes of intelligence in compacting a positive road ahead. After all, it is you who believes in quantum ...that being the existence of life has aired! ~ JahFuel
