Thank you for your perspective. My husband and I are retired. He retired at age 51. We always lived below our means putting money aside for later. We have been able to help our children get started. We have been able to help others. Best advice is to live frugally and take care of your health. Be kind to others. Thank you again. I enjoy your channel.

I am 63, and the American Dream has turned into the American trap for me. My children and grandchildren have asked me...Nana, how do I proceed. I always tell them...take the risk, you may win you may lose...but regret, likely isn't gonna follow.

Having never made a lot of money, I don't have the luxury of solving problems by throwing money at a problem. Learn to think your way out of a problem rather than spend your way out of a problem. Obviously you can't always solve a problem without spending but often a) money won't solve the problem b) things can change on a dime and you might not have the money to fix the issue. The ability to problem solve this way has helped me so much in my personal and professional life.

Thanks so much for the inspiration, man. You, Matt D, Nathanial Drew, and a few others all in similar fields have probably had a large roll in the direction my life will take. I'm almost 17, moving out soon from my mom and sibs to my dad for a while, then out on my own soon after..... life is coming at me fast, and you and others have inspired me to not live the life of poverty and insanity that everyone around me lives. I'll be free, and it is amazing to see that people have done it and can do it. Thanks!

Great list Gabe! I agree with your thoughts on money. I think it’s an amazing tool to apply toward goals; it just shouldn’t overshadow what truly brings lasting joy, & fulfillment in life. I also appreciated that you brought up both, “risks” & “analysis paralysis”. It’s honestly scary to think of all the opportunities we allow irrational fears to sabotage. As far as, “one of the rules of life” I think people should break, I would say: Trying to conform to societal standards simply to please, & be accepted by others. There’s just nothing worse than realizing you basically created the life others wanted you to live...instead of the one that was right for you.

The concept of working all your life then finally retiring is silly. I've taken 'mini-retirements' throughout my career or extended periods off where I did other things or took chances. It's costed me money but I have no regrets.

I worked 43 yrs and thought I could travel and do what I wanted. Not. Physically I can't walk to far or stand too long. Luckily, when I was young, I traveled all over the US and enjoyed it so much in my vw van. Ppl do all the traveling and whatever you want to do. You never know what the future will bring. Don't get married and having kids early. Learn who you are first, what you like and want. Keep loose from relationships, bad jobs and toxic friends/family. Get rid of them. For being young, this man knows a lot. Listen to him.

@Alvin Zarco Alvin, I think it's great to buy a van, modify it and travel. Need lots of cubbies for storage. Don't forget heat & a/c and solar, bc you don't know where you're going or will end up. Have plenty of cash hidden on you and not all in the same place, bc things aren't cheap, plus a way to cook and store food. Plenty of video's on u tube how to and what ppl have done to fix up their vans. There are van places to meet ppl and learn how to make money on the road by working for koa or park and get a spot free , plus wages. I'd wait till after the election, bc it may get bad in certain areas. You don't want to go near there. Have protection and do research on how to do it legally. Idk if there's a permit for the whole US. GOD AND JESUS FIRST AND PRAY. It's not always a nice world out there. Trust nobody and stay safe. I'll post if I find the van meet up or info. I found it- CheapRVliving. com or on u tube. He's been on the road 25 yrs. Has tips, tricks, places etc. Thought that might help you even more. Take care

Hopefully companies will move to shorter work days/weeks and colleges will lower their prices once people realize they don’t need to be slaves to a company or a degree program to be financially well-off, productive, or happy.

I am living in Denmark and am taking my BA. It is free to do so here, and students actually get financial aid from the government. Studying here is seen as a job, so we get paid to do it. We only have to pay for our books, unless we just borrow them at the library.

Good points. I know a lot of people who say you should live very frugally to pay off debts faster. While that is great advice. I also think it is important to spend money on certain things such as good quality food, dental care, etc. Investing in your health is important. So many people have a chronic disease by the time they retire so they can't enjoy the freedoms of retirement.

So for anybody reading this I would like tips and pointers. I want to buy a second property to either rent out monthly or use as an airbnb. I do understand living in Augusta Georgia I don't only make money during masters week it is not a hot place to be renting out for air B & B. I have good credit and was thinking of going to the county and looking over foreclosures. I knew people that bought a $40000 foreclosure with a settlement check paid in cash never even saw the house and they lucked out the house Is wonderful. I see a lot of people talking about using their 2nd homes as rental income total income but I'm unsure how they are able to do this when I 2nd home would be a second mortgage so........ the renters would pretty much be paying the mortgage. Anyway any pointers or tips would be greatly appreciated.

I’m from a country where higher education is affordable and we have a strong vocational education system where you can learn a trade. I understand your point of view, knowing where you come from and where you live. But I can’t help but feel, that as a society we would loose something irretrievably if we only think about the making of money. Of entrusting education to companies only, which is what happens when people learn in companies through working their way up. If I was in your position I would’ve very probably made the same choice, though

I work for a financial firm who promotes "practicing retirement," which sounds like what you plan on doing - taking time to enjoy life now, before you actually retire. My advice is also to: live below your means and, this will be controversial, don't chase a dream job (AKA, sell out). Get a day job at a large company with great retirement plan and health insurance benefits, and your dream job can be your hobby. It's worked well for me, but it's not for everyone.

Good suggestions BUT NOT necessarily true for most people. If you’re fortunate to have had a dream career, which I did, you CAN travel around the world twice, which I have AND still retire at a relatively early age. And not looking at higher education solely as a means to an end BUT to enrich my mind......life is a continuous learning process. There’s only a small number of Elon Musk, Steve Jobs, Bill Gates....and don’t count Zuckerberg because he is demonstrating poor character....who didn’t complete college BUT took relevant courses before embarking on entrepreneurial success. I contend changing the title of this video to “you MIGHT CONSIDER BREAKING”.
