I’m 5’7” and can barely flat foot a 805mm seat height of the Ninja 650. Was the R7 you rode in this video somehow lowered? Or is the seating position relative to how a rider can flat foot the bike? For anyone still wondering, can confirm at 5’4 with a 28 inseam this motorcycle is manageable. I am just about on the tips of my toes when two footing. so the only downside is if needed to back the bike up it’s a little rough, but you can always hop off and just pull/push it. If your comfortable putting one foot down at stops like lights/ stop signs (like we should be doing :p )then you should have no problem. Edit: forgot to mention that with regular shoes it’s the tips of my toes. If I wear riding shoes not even boots, it gives me a little more and I can get the balls of my feet down.

You must have a short inseam, if you’re 5’9 and barely flat foot… did you soften the suspension? It may help. Possibly shaving the seat as well

The R6 was designed as a track weapon, the ergonomics on it are super aggressive. The R7 will be VERY different cause it's the frame and engine of the MT07, it has some small upgrades over the MT07 but it's basically an MT07 with plastics, clipons and higher rearsets. They designed the R7 as a user friendly road going sports bike, also Yamaha KNOW that the MT07 has been recommended as a beginner bike so obviously they made it VERY approachable in terms of seat height. Proper sports bikes for track NEED a higher seat, the aggressive position helps with aggressive riding. Remember also, the R7 makes like 70-ish horsepower, the R6 made 120-ish horsepower, so they are VERY different powerplants. Lali, you own an MT07 so the R7 should feel VERY familiar indeed.

for the short people out there, a ducati supersport with the low seat is 31.1 seat height, cbr650r is 31.9 and a rs660 is 32.3. while they are all more expensive then the r7, they are all faster too.

I think the seat height was 33” which is very tall for 5’2 The ninja ex650 has seat @ 31” and is perfect for any rider 5”9 and below. Like flat foot stop light perfect. Little heavier at 438lbs vs R7 @413lbs

@@1MaximusDecimusMeridius1 I don't only take into account seat height if that was the case a Honda rebel 300 would've been my first bike but I also have to look at the balancing with my weight and what I'm comfortable with. The 2021 r3 had more options for my height and weight based on the suspension, in my opinion it's better balanced than the rebel based on weight distribution. I'm not that concerned with height, I'm more focused on balance and everything I hear about this bike points towards it being amazingly balanced. That and I also prefer Yamaha, personally😅

How tall are you? They listed the seat height at 32.9”, that on paper still a little too high for someone 5”4 with 30” inseam but I know it makes a huge difference if the tank is narrow or not.

I get the impression that you liked it :) But did you like it because you fit on it, or was it a great riding/handling bike? How did feel compared to your MT-07? While it has the same engine, I believe it has better suspension components than your MT07.

It's lightweight to throw into corners, it wants to lean with you. My MT07 has an entirely aftermarket suspension (Ohlins Nix cartridge kit + Ktech razor RR rear shock) so he feels nothing like this R7, this one felt way more comfortable of a ride, but you could adjust the suspension on the R7 however you'd like obviously.

I ride Ninja 650 and the seat height is about 31 inch, only the ball of my foot touch the ground. R7 is almost 2 inch taller, too tall for me. I feel embarrassing when Lali thinks it is so low. I have 30-ish inseam, btw.

@@mattingray5651 I also have the ninja 650, and remember the bikes (both ninja and R7) can be lowered up to an inch with a few turns of some bolts. You can go even lower but will need to have kickstand adjusted and that’s a little more advanced. Be safe !

Street triple felt higher, but it's not just about seat height you have to take into consideration seat width and the position of the rear sets which affects how close to the bike you can get your legs (closer being better b/c gives you a longer inseam)

Depends on the person's inseam, height is irrelevant, there's guys standing 5'8 with 28" inseam and guys standing 5'6 with 31" inseam, girls on average have longer legs, so In alot of bike reviews they with reference how tall they are but never mention their inseam.

I’m 172cm (5’8), I can recommend two sportsbike for short riders, the Yamaha R7 (835mm seatheight) and the CBR650R (810mm seatheight), both are such good sportsbike, can’t fail on any of them

I'm 5'3" and I was thinking Honda rebel 500 would be the best choice for my first motorcycle. I like sports but they are scarry 😅 they are fast, tall and heavy. I had shoes that gave me some height as well. I typically ride in boots that do that but still can't flat foot, on this I could. Inseam matters also, so does seat width, so does position of the footpegs because they dictate how far out or close to the bike you can rest your legs. Those are my thoughts, I'd definitely sit on one if you get a chance!

Great video Lali. But I'd say the Aprilia RS660 is the better bike. The cost difference isn't as large when you look at what you get with the RS660 compared to what you don't get on the R7.
