Dude i absolutely love all your videos, keep up the great work. SInce you talk about this in this video, do you think custom fan curves wear the fans faster? I currently have my fans set to 80% on 80c hotspot and 100% on 90c hotspot and always wondered if this was bad. My card is a MSI RX 6750 XT Mech V1 (2x Fans), so it runs pretty hot if i dont do this (105c hotspot default fan curve vs 85c hotspot custom fan curve )
@Bsc811 ай бұрын
Hi i have the XFX Merc Black version of that gpu and i confirm it runs hot. For AMD cards the delta between HotSpot and GPU temp should be less than 30 degrees, the ideal delta it's around 20C. Mine few months ago was 23C (90C hotspot and 67C GPU temp) but i replaced thermal paste with NT-H2 and i run the card with little overclock (2787MHz / full vRAM oc and 250w unlocked tdp). I also use custom fan curves + thanks to my good case airflow i can set the fans at max 80%, most of the time they runs at 40-50% speed. BUT i've noticed the temps gets hotter over time i think it's the infamous NT-H2 paste pump-out effect. So i'm tempted to try the new THERMAL GRIZZLY KryoSheet instead of the classic paste, i only have the hotspot that runs hot all the other things like vrms and ram chips are operating at max 50C under full load.

Those cards are expensive, but seeing your videos it seems like all manufacturers make junk. I'll be in the market soon for a new card myself, but I have no clue what brand is the least worst. What's the top 3 of actually OK brands/cards that don't break on you as soon as you look at them? And which brands/models to absolutely avoid?

it's always amusing to see such support Frames on a PCB to crack, because you wonder if the Alloy they're using is really just that hard that it snaps rather than has a bit of Ductility, or if People are just allowing their GPU's to bend to an unreasonable degree that we shouldn't expect such thin Metal to be able to handle on its own.
@Alan_Skywalker11 ай бұрын
I actually recommend Senju or Alpha flux. Less smell, less bubbling, better effect with fewer usage.
@BiOnyx.11 ай бұрын
As you've seen so many cards with poor design for longevity, would you have a personal recommendation which you noticed holds up better? I understand all brands will have bad eggs, but just one brand that tends to come in less frequently?

i got a 3090 on ebay that came in with shipping damage. the IO plate and PCI was bent in on itself. i messaged the seller and he was willing to do a return and at first i was going to do it. but he did ask if i could test it to make sure it works and witch it did. but i was still going to go though with the return. but later in the night i was that the metal plate like the zotac was bent and i was thinking. if i remove the OI shield the PCB will go straight and it did. so i tested it again and it will worked. so i messaged the seller asking if it was cool if i try and fulling fix it and he said go for it. i toke it apart unment the metal plate put it back together and it still works as of me posting this comment. its now been about a week and im happy that it wasnt damaged inside the PGB.

You make it look too easy, which only praises your experience with reballing. I have tried to reball a BGA nand on USB drive, and it was a hassle. Every detail is important like how much flux to use so it does not move the balls when heating the board, and then even heating with low airvolume so the air does not squish the balls.
@Foxx_6911 ай бұрын
I am interested how you built that BGA tool you got there? I can see the preheater resembles similar units. Do you have a vid of your tool box
