So, Basically the capacitor is added make the current lag and diode is added to filter the cycles and this configuration allows addition of the two. Probably

In an ideal world it doubles, but in reality voltage drop across diodes makes it less

Your not getting more, if you turn that voltage into AC you get the same thing the only thing that changes is amps
