This was lovely, thank you. I spent some wonderful time in Yorkshire near Ripponden and walking down the lovely old cobble road to the farm shop was such a joy to me. I’d pass the old stone cottages, the sheep behind the drystone walls and then once in the shop be greeted by the heartiest we,come from the butcher owner of the shop. I too would wander around choosing from all the delightful goods the shop offered, and sometimes I’d indulge in a pastry or two as well. The first time I went in on my first extended stay there, he boomed at me when I ordered one chop or one meat pie, “where’s ta husband!” That set the tone for the merriment after that. Yorkshire is truly beautiful and I met such lovely people there. Being greeted with “you all right love?” Is truly a welcoming feeling when you’ve come from a place that doesn’t greet in a shop. I’m subscribing because you’re giving me back all those lovely moments and feelings.

That was beautifully done. I love that you kept the usual lovely quiet peacefulness and just spoke at the end. I read a comment as I was watching it that said that you spoke at the end so I knew it would be later. I was sure it would feel jarring when you started to speak after the quiet but it wasn’t. It was gentle and careful. You did it so well. Thank you. And you have a lovely voice 😊 Btw, I baked again today. Scones. It was so much more peaceful than my banana bread saga! Everything went smoothly, the dog stayed out of the way and the chickens were quiet. I don’t think I’ve ever made scones before. Maybe at school. Certainly not as an adult. Which also means that until today I’d never had one fresh out of the oven. Oh my word they’re good! Had a couple with butter and jam and a cup of tea. Just lovely.

@@ApronfulofStones apparently, scones were the only thing my dad knew how to cook. Problem was he learnt how in the army and we never wanted a batch of 200 for afternoon tea 😂😂😂 Even though they were never made at home, if we were out and saw a sign for Devonshire Tea (what we call cream tea, except we use whipped cream because clotted cream isn’t available here) we would always stop in if we had time and thoroughly enjoyed it. I have a couple of special memories of Devonshire Teas with Mum and Dad together, and a few more with just Mum. Actually, it’s what we did on my birthday a few months after we lost Dad. It was a nice way to feel close to him that day 😊
