Great Effort at the Nut Roast. Dave reminds me of a old work colleague who use to cook in the kitchen of the care home I worked he would be always singing in the kitchen because night times he was the lead singer of a heavy metal tribute band and he was nearly 60❤

(And too many of us would miss all the videos we've become used to. 😿) 0:32-0:36: Good to see you've done a bit of "prepping", Dave. 1:08-1:10: "Wot! No chopper?!" (What would Fanny Craddock have said?!) 2:46-2:48: It means... the opposite of Dave and Dawn! 😊😊 2:57-3:01: Can't beat a bit of improvisation. 4:10-4:27: Reminds me of a child in the back of a car during a long journey: "Are we there yet?" Hmm... come to think of it, you two also have a bit of an "act"... Dave = "The Hard-Worker" v Dawn = "The Laid-back One"!!! 5:53-5:57: I'm going to copy the recipe and put it in my "Dodo": personal recipe book. (You should buy one!) 'After using your "Dodo Book for Cooks", you may find your recipes are not as extinct as all that!' And finally, in the spirit of "Giving and Receiving", here's another really good recipe I found for that loaf tin of yours:- "Bara Brith". Ingredients: 1) 300g dried, mixed fruit. 2) 350ml. boiling water. 3) 3 "Earl Grey" teabags. 4) 180g. soft, brown sugar. 5) 350g. self-raising flour. 6) 1 medium egg. 7) ½ teaspoon mixed spice. 8) 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon. Method: 1) Put teabags in a large bowl. 2) Add boiling water. 3) Leave for five minutes... 4) Take teabags out. 5) Add dried, mixed fruit. 6) Cover bowl with a large plate. 7) Leave overnight... 8) Add soft, brown sugar; stir until dissolved. 9) Add remaining ingredients: self-raising flour; mixed spice; cinnamon; egg. 10) Mix into a thick batter. 11) Line your bread tin. 12) Add the mixture. 13) Bake on middle shelf for exactly 1¼ hours. (150⁰C/300⁰F/Gas 2.) 14) Remove and leave to cool. 15) Cover Bara Brith with kitchen foil. 16) Place in fridge. Note: when removed - a few hours later - the top should look glazed. Slice and serve: with or without butter, according to your preference. (Perfect with a cup of coffee... or... tea!!!) Good luck!

It was a really fun one and the benefit was it tasted great. We will stick to turkey on the day although will have a slice of tge nut roast to go with it.
