I practice pain and discomfort tolerance weekly and this is definitely true. The more you exaggerate the pain , the worse it feels…I just don’t think about it and relax

We suffer more in imagination than in reality- Seneca This is a principle that has helped me greatly. Always when trouble arises, I ask myself, "How do I feel? Does it hurt? " and end up finding myself living inside my own head instead of reality. I had a preconceived notion that a particular activity was going to hurt but in reality it was baseless

I remember before I was officially diagnosed with my brain tumor back in December of 2019, I had built the attribute of an intense work ethic the summer following the diagnosis. I had lost 80 lbs on a weight loss journey which taught me discipline, perseverance, and obsession. I remember getting migraines, being fatigued, and even losing my eye sight (without noticing), and since it was the winter time. I thought it was just the weather making me sick or something. I would still weight train, do cardio, and even go to my recently new job as a server at a KBBQ restaurant. Even though I was in pain mentally and physically, not even realizing it was a whole tumor in my head, my work ethic still kept me on pushing through adversity and pain. Thank god im still here, even though I may not have both my eyes (just one) I still look forward to pushing through to find my own success. But also keeping in mind my health😂. If at any point I feel/experience the same symptoms as before I will get myself checked out instead of being a stubborn "obsessed over-working" human being.

A warning from my personal experience. I've been using this kind of habit about pain tolerance but it has seriously bad drawbacks if abused or frequently applied. From what I understand, the pain is noticeable and painful but bearable to the point that you can still focus on things that must be done. What's actually happening is a phenomenon of intense focus called the zone or fight or flight response which in this case is fighting for your priorities. So what's the bad thing about it is it costs your mental health, it demands energy and causes high stimulation in your brain. I can't go into details with the scientific method but the point is for me from my personal experience, it's similar to adrenaline rush. Remember to take healthy breaks and properly rest to recover. You'll surely regret the bad effects in the long run, specifically to your brain.

I can attest to this, I thought it was just my "Toxic Work Ethic" thank you for enlightening me in this subject. It does works wonders but has a significant draw back, this is like Goku going full Mastered Ultra Instinct for the 1st time, you will have a power boost but you'll get something negative in return, If by any chance I meet you in person, I would like to buy you a drink. Cheers Mr. Forged, your contributions do not go unnoticed

I got injured and cracked the tendor of a muscle in the foot, while running at work. It is painfull, but as I was at work I was fealing no pain. The day after I went to the ER for the foot, because it was twice the size. They made some exams and told me I cracked a tendor, therefore I cannot move the foot as I wanted, and was lucky not to cut it, as I didn´t have to go to surgery.

I think it's true because as a seaferer as you work you don't feel sea sickness. As you focus on it you get sick.

You people are masochists 😂 On a more serious note: adversity isn't worth suffering if it doesn't pay, but it's never good to give sickness and injury more power over yourself than it already takes.
