Dimash is music himself. And it is such a sad but gorgeous song how quick life passes by and about shallowness of it without love.

Just gorgeous! But so utterly heartbreaking, that no matter how many times I experience this song, I'm still brought to tears - especially when thinking of how very proud Dimash's beloved mentor would be of him, and how he'd want to hug him and comfort him in his grief...😔😭

Not a new song, he has sung it before a few times, but a new arrangement of Qaragym-ai, (apple of my eye) you need to know the reason why he did this for the 60th Anniversary KazakhConcert. His University Professor (Dimash is still a student (Phd)) Kenes Duysekeev died from covid-19 in the first wave in Kazakhstan and Dimash was very close to him, very fond of him, so it hit him very hard. He wanted to do this as a tribute to him and to rearrange the song to show the respect Dimash had for this very talented teacher, composer, poet and very nice man. Kenes composed this song 20 years ago about the apple of his eye, his sister who passed away, the poet wrote the words about his daughter, also the apple of his eye, that went away to be married and he had to say goodbye to her, so a terribly sad song, and when Dimash first asked if he could perform this song when he was around 18/19 Kenes doubted that at such a young age Dimash would be able to put across the meaning and intense emotions in this song, so he asked Dimash to sing it for him beforehand. When he heard and saw how Dimash could absolutely put across the deep meanings and emotions he was very happy to give him the song to perform. This newly arranged performance is in my opinion a triumph, Dimash's perfect vocals are heartbreakingly beautiful and just having a piano, perfect ❤ Interview with Karagym-Ay song composer, Kenes Duisenkeev In 2016, my 70th anniversary was celebrated right here in Astana. It was decided that it would take place in the concert hall Kazakhstan. Then Dimash Kudaibergen came to me and said, "Kenes aga," how do you look at it when I performe the song Karagym-Ay?! In fact, I already invited another singer to perform this song. But I didn't want to disappoint the boy. I thought he was a talented boy who had just gotten to his feet, so I didn't say no, but said, prepare yourself for the performance. In two days, a rehearsal will take place in the concert hall Kazakhstan, on the day of the concert day, you will come and i will hear your performance. Dimash finished performing, I didn't notice when I got up and called Dimash. Come here dear, come here and I hugged him. I hugged him and said, God gave you not only a voice but also a heart and, most importantly, wisdom. I didn't think a young boy who wasn't even 20 could understand the philosophical depth of this song. In fact, he realized all my thoughts on this song. instagram.com/p/CGiDdnCArPA/?igshid=14s02s38e7t1d

Dimash actually lost at least 2 of his beloved mentors to COVID, so it is very personal to him and his pain is real, not a performance. One of them was the composer of this song. The lyricist of this song, Shomishpay Sariev, wrote the lyrics for his daughter, who was about to get married. The composer, Kenes Duisekeev, when writing the music, thought about his own sister, who had died at the age of 19, and about the fact that her father would never see her get married. And now this composer, who was also Dimash's professor, died from COVID-19. Many years ago Dimash asked and was granted special permission to sing this song for his teacher on his 70th birthday. To quote Kenes Duisekeev, "Dimash finished his singing. Without realizing it, I got up from my seat. I called him, "Dimash, come here, dear, come here!" and hugged him. I hugged him and said, "My dear, God gave you not only a voice, but also a heart, and most importantly, a mind". I didn't expect that a young boy about 20 years old would be able to understand the depth of this song, its philosophical depth. But in fact, he realized my idea exactly the way I always dreamed of." And now a more mature and experienced Dimash performed this song for the second time in tribute to the memory of his beloved teacher. This is a version with English subtitles. kzbin.info/www/bejne/joXSo6F9qpejnZo

( " Apple of my eye") The composer set it to music to honour his sister who died when she was 19. He was Dimash's professor of compositipn and a dear friend. He died of Covid in July. This performance by Dimash from the concert dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the Kazkahstan concert company "Qazaqconcert" in Oct 2020. Many other Kazkah musicians attended this concert. Dimash has chosen the song by the composer who died in July 2020 from COVID 19 and who was one of his teachers at the music academy. This is also added the sadness to already sad song. Song is in Kazakh. Although, the song about a loving father sending away his beloved daughter into the marriage in the different world, in Dimash interpretation it became the song of loving son giving the way to beloved farther who has departed in another world. One of the lyrics line reads: “we are all only passerby’s or guests in this world” and that applicable to both situations.

/// The story of the song "Karagym-ay" / "My dear". Lyrics written by Sariev Shomishbay. Music written by Duysekeev Kenes. Poet Sariev dedicates these poems to his daughter, who is getting married. In the poems, the poet conveys his feelings about how the life of his daughter will turn out with her chosen one. Father shares thoughts on the meaning of life with his daughter. In his opinion, the main meaning of life is Love. Without love, life is empty. The poet asked a friend, composer Duisekeev, to write music for his poems. The composer remembered his only sister who died when she was 19 years old. She didn't get married. That's why the song also feels the pinching sadness of the failed love. /// Dimash performed the song "Karagym-ay" on April 9, 2016 at a concert dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the composer Kenes Duisekeev. The composer was surprised by how Dimash was able to understand and convey the deep meaning of the song, despite his young age (Dimash was 21 at the time.). After the performance of the song, the composer applauded Dimash with the words BRAVO!!!" /// Composer Kenes Duysekeev was Dimash's teacher at the university. He died on July 9, 2020 from Covid-19. /// It's a pity that Maestro Kenes Duisekeyev will never hear this particular performance. A completely new interpretation compared to Dimash' performance on April 9, 2016 at the composer's anniversary. In the current performance, each word is colored with musical colors, intonations, feeling. The song, at first glance, is simple and has several verses, without choruses. Each verse begins with the same words "Karagym-a-а-а-а-аy" ("My dear"). But there are so many accents, and each verse sounds SO different, that I personally perceive this performance as a requiem, crying for a departed irretrievably good man. /// Dimash sang this song in 2016, when he was 21 years old. Please watch the clip with a good sound (English subtitles) kzbin.info/www/bejne/hqaVmGSVhZtjeNU
