I spent every day of the 9th grade in after school detention hall because of one teacher. She'd get hacked off because I would spend the entire class drawing. But what REALLY torqued her off is I would ace her exam every Friday. It was many years after I graduated that a study showed that drawing during a lecture is an excellent way to retain knowledge.

I mean, that drawing stance made the process more fun to see 😂 That made me laugh a lot. Thank you as always for sharing your experiences, I feel so inspired right now. You made me remember how much I love dinos, and I'm now wondering why I never drew them. I'll be on my sketchbook the second I finish writing this. 😄 Shout out to the person that filmed you as well, the shots are incredibly beautiful!

This reminds me of the countless hours I spent in the old musty Natural History Museum in Boston. It’s off the beaten trail behind Harvard Law School. The tall stone building is a labyrinth hallways and halls filled with cases of preserved specimens; plants, bugs, gems, and taxidermy. I had free admittance with my art school ID so I could for just an hour or all afternoon. I loved getting lost in the details of plants and animals. Ten years and 5 kids later, my trips to museums look a lot different! 😅 I love seeing the wonder through their eyes but there’s always a part of me longing to slow down for minute and sketch! Thanks for sharing journey 😊

Loved that you went from a baby dinosaur in spray paint to real Dino’s. 😊 And I loved the end sitting under the fish. If you are ever in N Cali, the Monterey Aquarium is to die for.

@@angiepen True! Lol. I just like to inform as a paleonerd. It would be fun to mix a deer with a dromeosaurid. I often call all the baby deer in my backyard Bambi anyways. This year we have three! We have a pond and leave areas wild and a doe has been having here babies here the last few years, this year she had triplets. They run around sometimes! So yeah the word Bambi is inextricably linked to baby deer and I also can’t help that myself so I can heartily agree upon reflection!

Watching this made me recall the day I went to a museum to sketch too, it was such a surreal experience I didn't want to leave haha. I was there with friends and didn't expect museums to be such an amazing place to sketch at. Watching this makes me want to make another sketchbook trip there. I love seeing how your channel is so random, you can never expect what Jess will do next and that is so fun. Also I love to see the childlike excitement when you draw, so many people nowadays are so sad and sour it's rare to see someone truly enjoy their time like this, I am also quite like you in this aspect, I just can't stop smiling and getting excited over every small interesting things in life.

I absolutely loved this video. I'm an illustrator by trade but with 20+ years in the game have evolved into more of a graphic designer/branding identity professional artist. Over the years with work and family, I've lost the time and impetus to dive into my sketchbook like I used to right out of school. I stumbled into your channel after doing a YT search for the best travel art kit, and have since devoured your content when given the chance. This video in particular reminded me of how much O love to draw from life (especially animals and science)! Thank you for the inspiration 💡✨

Aloha Jess, it's so cool to watch your "child-like" bewilderment and appreciation for each exhibit. You gift of Art is also so incredible to watch as it comes to Life as your sketch. Mahalo for sharing your journey with the rest of us. New fan, newest Sub. Be well & Aloha No🤙-Luka

What a wonderful video, thank you for sharing. Everything was so nice to see, but I think the Seahorses were my favorite. They are such a interesting little creature. I loved the sketch you did of one. I could watch you draw all day. Your creations on page is amazing. 😊💜

Thanks for taking us along. What a rad experience. Definitely fills the mental reference library. Your openness to new information and experiences make these "dates" so exciting and fun. Pilahuk.

Nice videos! I recently started urban sketching and i believe that it really helps with understanding the fundamentals. It's more freeing in contrast to drawing from still photographs

I really love how simular we are in some points. I would be nervous and excited in such museum as well. To be able to see all the little and huge wonders of the world is a huge gift. Love it. Do poeple reconice you while you drawing. Is it weard when poeple come to you and ask you what you are doing? You need a stool 😉 I have one that is retractable small round one fits totaly well in my back pack and it has a very stable foot.

Thank you!! It’s not weird at all. You can check out some other sketchbook date videos I put out to see other interactions. People are so friendly and usually are nervous to interrupt but I love socializing and talking to them! :) it’s one of my favorite parts of urban sketching! Thanks for watching :) Hope you enjoyed!
