what I love about this trailer is that it pays tribute to the old Minecraft animatics we used to watch as kids. it feels serious and intense, it has stakes. meanwhile the Minecraft movie is probably going to be shallower then a puddle and any sort of danger or consequence is going to be completely stomped on by some cheesy Marvel quality jokes.

These mob designs are iconic. Truly taking a lot of their key traits and concepts, then elevating them to be terrifying. I think what makes it work best is the fact that the more lore-based ideas behind each mob are present in their designs. The ghast truly looks like a massive creature from hell that spews fire. The ravager looks like a powerful and rabid beast meant to rampage and destroy entire villages, killing everyone in its path. The phantom looks like something with haunts your dreams and stalks you in the night. And the Wither......holy shit, words cannot begin to describe how badass this Wither design is.

The idea of someone being able to control/summon Phantoms goes so fuckin' hard in a setting like this. Like, imagine the sorcerer uses a potion effect like Speed or Jump Boost (one that implies 'energy') to stay awake for days on end in order to attract these things, and attack the people around them like a suicide bomber. This was awesome, not really a fantasy-guy but if it were a real movie, I'd watch the shit out of this.

The way I see it is more than that; if this were a movie set before the game it could be that the Phantoms were different from the ones in the game. Phantom Lore I'm coming up with right now so if it makes no sense that's why. The Phantom in the trailer is clearly much bigger than the one we have in the game, indicating some kind of forced evolution between when this is set and the game. Phantoms are wild creatures drawn to pheromones of those who are hard at work or a sort of psychic vibration given off by those pushing themselves. They are ferocious beings, dangerous but not hostile. Moreover they are tameable but like what draws them in the first place, it takes dedication and consistent effort to keep them loyal and Phantoms are known to turn on their 'owner' at the drop of a hat. Between the events of this story and when the game takes place, Phantoms begin losing their intelligence and become more feral. With a scarcity of the psychic food source that is human's desire to push themselves, they grow smaller so that they need less of that food source and more aggressive towards those who do give that off; physically biting those who do produce it and taking it straight from the blood which is drawn. Someone smarter than I can do this better no doubt but there it is; a theory based on a fan trailer's five seconds clip showing a huge Phantom way cooler than the one we got in the game.

I imagine the Jack Black Steve bit is probably just a parody but for some reason I quite like the idea that "Steve" is actually an ancient hero that beat Herobrine long ago but as a result just kinda lost his mind (he'd also have to be semi immortal) and he regains it towards the end and fights Herobrine again. I'm not particularly up for the idea of goofy Jack Black fighting Herobrine in this kind of grimm dark setting but the concept itself feals neat. Also why does the King's motionblurred(or whatever you call it) darmatic turn (1:56) look better animated than 90% of modern shows?

Keep the background, but make Steve the mysterious "key" to the demon's true defeat - part of a Sam-and-Frodo-esque side plot where someone has to escort him in his mind-addled state, delving into remote reaches while deciphering his ramblings. Over the span of the journey, Steve's companions gradually unravel his true identity and what led to his current tragic state, while also slowly pulling his mind up from the depths of madness. Near the end, Steve regains enough of himself for a heroic last stand - sacrificing himself so his companions survive to the final battle.

Neytrix intentionally or not has showcased by comparison this seemingly lack of care for the source material, material that Hollywood has yet to show in any of their promotions of the live action film. It also highlights the publicly poorly received art decisions that the filmmakers have made in how they are trying to blend live action with realistic cartoon animations. The Minecraft movie may prove to be a good film with a poor ad campaign... Although I have my doubts. But this Slightly Different Minecraft Trailer showcases what many people have been thinking since the first trailer for the live film dropped. If the producers of the film had passion for the game, it's world, its players, and all its rich history then we could have had a masterpiece on par with the Lord of the rings and Harry Potter. Not, a film banking on nostalgia to make a profit at the box office.

if you think about it the universe of minecraft is horrifying, consider: - As soon as nightfall happens every undead and skeleton there is pops out of the ground - Even during daylight they are smart enough to hide in the shade or use hats to avoid burning up - There is a 3M tall creature that should you gaze upon its eyes it will scream like a banshee and teleport around until it tears your head apart - There is a literal hell - There is a place called The End where the least of your concern is the 3M tall teleporting creature - There are Pillagers that somehow tamed Giant creatures they call Ravagers, which is as big as a small shack (and by the way no wild counterpart so they either tamed all of them or got them from god knows where) - There are witches, which have multiple ways to kill someone using potions no one else knows how to make (except Stephanus because he is a chad) - There is a giant being underground that hunts for sound and has cores that corrupt the nearby region - The creatures from hell are often much stronger than the ones in the overworld, including a flying crying screaming head that spits out giant fireballs - Hell also has Blazes, flying fire elemental looking creatures that lob fireballs like a machine gun -Hell has literal souls trapped in sand, which if put together with heads summons a creature of the 7th hell that can easily destroy an entire village in a matter of minutes - There is a fun little guy that is green and hovers ever so slightly above the ground, so they can approach without a single footstep sound, and when its close enough detonates with enough force to level a small house - There are weeping angels now, which are immortal as long as you don't find their heart hidden somewhere in the swamp they reside in - There are creatures of the night that will hunt you down should you not sleep for a few days

So what we're learning here is: instead of just parodying the game aspects of Minecraft into film, we take the recognizable lore and environmental storytelling aspects and reimagine them into a compelling narrative. Most of us have fought a Wither and a Ghast, but I have no doubt the movie rendition of the Wither and Ghast would fill us with fear and excitement. Seriously, using Ghast tears as carpet bombs is a cool twist, as well as using the Nether Star as an eldritch artifact that animates and powers the Wither.

The further you go from the Origin the more the world breaks down. There's an actual hell you can visit complete with lost souls. @@ThanatosXD925 I think the trouble is it's trying to do Jumanji, but the reason that Jumanji worked is because while the four leads were pretty much non-stop joke machines, everything else was serious. Even when there was a joke from anyone but the main characters, it was delivered in a serious way. The setting, the villain, the in-game story, all the npcs were very serious. It allowed the setting and story itself to play the straight man to the comedic leads. Minecraft doesn't have that because the world and what little we've seen of the piglins seem just as ridiculous as Jack Black. And when everything is that ridiculous, it all just seems rather trite. If Jason was more of a serious character or the world was a little less uncanny valley, it could probably work, but they're not.

As i commented under the "original" trailer, they dont have to make it blocky and straight forward from the begginings to The End. That is not what Minecraft is, yes of course the blockiness hepls Minecraft a lot and its a big reason why it is so popular, but if you took that away it would still be Minecraft. Minecraft is about your creativity and people you choose to show your creativity to. They could have done anything else, like literary anything that uses things that are in game. They could have made something similar to Songs of War, yes it is blocky, yes it has some non existant things, but it still feels like Minecraft, because it is like a RP survival server. This trailer was exceptional, it encompases the game 100 times better even without the blockiness, then the "original" trailer will ever do with blockiness... Just my usual rant about this... I grew up with Minecraft and im passionate about the things involving it so as you can see im pretty mad and dissapointed that the movie turned out this way.

This trailer was so fantastic to watch and I haven’t even touched the game itself in years, it was a beautiful blend of creative interpretation, nostalgia, passionate storytelling, kindhearted references, and frankly is something that even now as an adult I would excitedly go see if it were an actual film. You know that's the sad thing is that it feels like the early 2000s and maybe a few decades before that as well was really the peak of time where companies initially started just giving people who had an idea and were dedicated to it a budget and just saying make whatever the hell you want and if it's good enough we'll give you an even bigger budget either the next time or expand the budget on this current project and both the developers got to make the games that they wanted and the company got to get the profit they wanted but companies nowadays are too greedy for their own good and don't understand that there is no such thing as too big to fail and that they can continue to rake and endless profit with endless support against any and all criticism pretty much with what criticism does get through only being to the developers to make it even better so you make even more profit meaning it's not even criticism you as a shareholder or company owner need to care about but they're too dumb for their own damn good and don't understand that gamers aren't so dumb as to just buy slop and call it good

The line about the skulls gave away just enough information for the audience who’ve played the game to figure out it’s about the Wither, its so genius I really like this take, it being like a high fantasy tale, cause like yeah, that’s how I feel when I play minecraft 😊 And great reference to Technoblade it works perfectly with the story being told

If there was a Kickstarter for this as a full movie, with this 3-minute snippet as the only intro, I'm sure it would get funded 3x over (just gotta be careful with paying the right people to help with the project, I've seen that override some great Kickstarters)

The best combination of Minecraft, Lord of the Rings, and DOOM I’ve ever seen. The art style, the acting, the world, the creatures, the Monsters, the drama, I’m all about it. I never would have expected you to use your past Minecraft art you made in videos past to make something as special as this. Giving Techno that mural is beautiful. Watching Felix get his armor together and pet Sven to fight alongside Alex is inspired. You’re incredible.
