Half a million households have cancelled their BBC licence fee in the past year preferring Netflix and KZbin.
The broadcaster relies heavily on an annual £169.50 licence fee paid by every UK household watching live channels on a television.
The corporation has announced it is to cut 500 jobs as it attempts to save £200 million to drive a “transformation”.

I have a friend who has a low-level but well-paid admin job at the BBC. He has just bought himself a £3000 electric bike paid for by the BBC's Cycle t0 work scheme. it's not just the so-called 'talent' that are on huge salaries; the ordinary small cogs are too. When he told me about his job perks, I literally stopped buying the licence. I was so distgusted at having to pay for their Leftie drivel just to keep them in a lifestyle they'd become accustomed to. @@scottsmith2173 That is a specific scheme from a specific provider. My employer has a cycle to work scheme that strait up buys it for you, no repayments. Your only cost is it counts as a taxable benefit so you get taxed on it.

When you call Capita/TV Licensing to cancel remember to tell them you are removing the 'implied right of access'. This means that they can only come to your house with a warrant. I cancelled mine some 15 years ago...I don't watch any live TV and just have to reaffirm I don't need a license every two years.

I can't understand why they weren't put on encrypted subscription years ago. They would have to cancel a lot of programmes, channels, radio stations etc and dismiss a lot of overpaid celebrities from their employment and much more to break even.
