Great video coach, i have a question is it effective to perform the double leg takedown without putting my knee on the mat, aka (the penetration shot) i've seen guys use something called the plunge step to close the distance and lower their level for the takedown.
@guitarfan847 жыл бұрын
Victor cabral you can use both, Coach Mark teaches the plunge ‘fencing’ step and the drop step. Drop steps are more taxing due to the lunging action and you’ll wear out your knees if you do them on hard surfaces too often. The mechanics are also more complex than the plunge step which is effectively a technical tackle. Saying that, the drop step teaches good fundamentals such as distancing, level changing and stance when you’re beginning to learn the shot.

Izzy matt, thanks for the reply, what i've been thinking is that if i have to take somebody down in a self defense situation i will scrape the shit outta my knee with the drop step.

Honestly bro I hate the putting my knee on the mat becuz I got into a streetfight and I realize my knee fuckin hurts from the concrete so ever since then I use this takedown but just my opinion
@SenpaiTorpidDOW7 жыл бұрын
Oh comeon, the damage from hitting your knee on the floor doing a double leg in a streetfight compared to the advantage of getting a long-range, speedy takedown on an opponent is so small. Double leg -> side control -> smash his head in with elbows to his temple. Fight over, very fast.
@minlee53767 жыл бұрын
Torpid DOW I agree you still get advantages from beating your opponents but next day it fuck my knee up pretty bad so I stop doing it. But what ever works for you maybe you have stronger knee then I do

I thought you were supposed to keep your head up when you shoot?
@MMACoach794 жыл бұрын
Great question. We keep the head high once the contact has been made (our chest to opponent's ribs). We use the chin tuck only during the shoot.

Так, а зачем такой большой подъём наверх? В бок же просто можно валить. А если соперник тяжелее килограммов на 30?
@MMACoach79Ай бұрын
If you are fighting a much heavier opponent, you can cut the corner and take your opponent like that, or do an outside trip from a low double leg. A high double leg (tackle) like I did here is just one of the ways you can finish it. And I don't believe you would fight a 30 kg heavier opponent in an MMA fight. There are weight classes.

Then you will probably not be able to take him down unless your technique is much much better than his.
