Vince "The Anomaly" breaks down entries for the single-leg (both from orthodox & southpaw), how to takedown, and follow up positions once you take your opponent to the ground in #MMA.
Don't forget that Coach Vince fights next week, Aug 30 at LFA 74! The best way to support is by tuning in to AXS TV to watch him fight and follow him on IG:

Apparently a fighter used it in the last 10 seconds of a fight and to Dana he would have preferred a barrage of strikes instead. Quite sad when you think about it since a lot of champs have been wrestlers.

Added note: He used his knees to pinch the leg(help hold some of the weight so your hands don’t take it all), that’s a very important step he didn’t mention. This was my favorite single leg in heavyweight.

Sometimes, that's the thing with guys who are natural at doing things. They execute moves with certain details without even realizing they do that detail, OR...they take a detail for granted, that they don't mention it, "because of course, everybody knows you're supposed to do this or that" (which isn't always the case, especially for folks who are new to a discipline.) So, it's very cool that you brought up that detail. 👍

@@michaelquebec6653 100 % agree. The coaches who teach skill the best are always the ones who weren't naturals and therefore learned to breakdown each move step by step. This is true for any sport. Naturals are usually godawful at teaching.

Could you maybe do a Video on setting up takedowns in detail? I am realy struggling to change from Punching into the takedown without clinching before. Thanks for all the videos and extra training advice!
@juryrigjohn9697
@juryrigjohn9697 4 жыл бұрын
Without going into too much detail, if you have a training partner drill takedowns from open position, as in close enough to touch hands but to get the leg you have to shoot in. Partner job is to practice matching your level, both head and hand level and sprawl. You get good at taking someone down from the open whose only job is defending you'll be great in sparring when they're not only focused on stopping take downs. Learning how to cover distance and knowing the timing to it is the biggest thing in my opinion and you just got to do it to learn it.

The head inside version of the single makes you more suseptible to strikes if you cant take him down but the head outside version makes you more suseptible to the guillotine choke so its kinda pick your poison. I'd still rather go for the head inside since its a smaller risk
