Seeing the drone camera is a good thing and quite useful. Carpe Iter seems to me to be very useful. Now that we are in 2024, is it still recommended?

Underneath it all it is a Samsung galaxy active 4. Maybe a 3 depending upon when you get it.. it just has a more robust case and is specifically designed for navigation so some internals are upgraded.. gps calculation is 10 times faster that anything else

Isn't it possible to download the GPS or whatever makes it faster then? This kit is pricey at almost €1000 for it to just be a Samsung galaxy. Will rather buy the later

It is nothing like the Samsusng tablet, Carpe Iter tablet is it´s own independent product, it has brighter display visible in direct sun, it has waterproof charging and much more, samsung is just rebranded grandma tablet. I succesuffly completed multiple FIM rallyes with Carpe, not happening withou it...

Hi Q1) How good is it if we compare to Garmin GPS zumo or Montana? Q2) did u connect OBD2 to ur ktm 790 adventure r if yes when u connected the OBD2 to your 790 did you face any issues? Q3) which brand or model OBD2 did u use? Subscribed and liked🤝
@Rupe Жыл бұрын
I’ve had a Montana 610 and an XT. Much prefer the CI. They do have their advantages, though. They’re simpler (easier to learn), and lighter. But the CI does a huge amount more. I’ve had the OBDII working on the 790, a 701, and an FE450. I don’t use it much, though. I find it most useful for fault codes, but you need a separate wired OBDII handset to clear them (available fairly cheaply). For Bluetooth OBDII readers, the VeePeak Mini seems to work okay with the CI+DMD2 and the KTMs/Husqvarnas.

Rupert, hi. Can I ask: 1) what headlight did you fit to your 701 2)did you think the AS mini fairing offerd enough protection for the tablet? 3) I know you fitted the Rade GArage tower later on - in retrospect, would you do the same again, given the carbon cracked on a pretty innocuous off? Would you have looked at a tower that had no carbon parts? Many thanks, Stevie :-)))
@Rupe11 ай бұрын
It’s the Rade Garage suppplied lights that I’m using - never actually used the stock one on my 701. They are excellent on full beam. The AS Mini Fairing is great for what it is and how much it costs. Definitely sturdy enough. Good question about the RG fairing. The design for the 701 isn’t as strong as the RG fairing I have on my FE450. It relies more on the carbon fibre and less on the aluminium support bracket. If I were getting one again, I’d go for the Aurora Superlight. Similar money and a work of art in aluminium. I should say, though, RG replaced the carbon tower without any fuss.

@@Rupe Thanks for getting back so quickly :-))) I wonder if you might have some images showing the tablet with the AS mini fairing from all sides - it would be really helpful to me as Im thinking about that set-up, but I hear what you said about your concern of the tablet being too close to you. Also, are you able to run your tablet in portrait mode? - perhaps that would allow it to sit behind the AS mini fairing a bit more?? Stevie ☺

Got some questions. This seems to be a TriplTek 7 Pro tablet just rebranded? if so, are the programs this unit comes with downloadable? Even the rear is exactly the same as the TriplTek from what I can see. Only difference seems to be the Screwable charging port on the side
@Rupe3 жыл бұрын
It does look very similar. I do use the (waterproof) charge point on the side as it doesn’t charge particularly well in the mount due to the bike’s vibrations. I believe Drive Mode Dashboard II is available separately. It’s worth pointing out that the Bluetooth controller makes a big difference (also available separately).
@rzulffik2 жыл бұрын
does this controller connect via bluetooth? what is the name of the controller when you enter the bluetooth settings?
@Rupe2 жыл бұрын
Yep, Bluetooth. I don’t recall what it connects as. It’s worth mentioning that they don’t make this controller anymore - its replacement is wired in for power (though still Bluetooth).

How about hot days performance? I know you may lough at it riding in uk, but still, does it overheat? I guess a wind may cool it off, but then you have it mounted behind a fairing. Not that it would be any close to "behind car's windshield and on the dashboard" scenario, where phones normally overheat and die overtime. So how does it cope with direct sunlight, performancewise? My Garming gpsmap unit I have for a decade was never fast, but didn't got slower while being exposed to summer temps for most of it's lifetime.
@Rupe3 жыл бұрын
No problems so far - but I haven’t tested it anywhere hot yet.

Thanks for this video. I go three Questions, would be nice if you could answer them: What App do you use to get the Compass Widget in the upper right Corner? Where is the transparent Windshield on the AS Fairing coming from? What is the Brand of the Lights on your Handguards? Thanks a lot :)
@Rupe3 жыл бұрын
The app is Drive Mode Dashboard II - it comes with the Carpe Iter tablet (although you can get it for any Android tablet). The screen is one I made myself for the AS Mini Fairing (just a bit of polycarbonate cut out and put in the oven over a form to bend it). They *might* be making one themselves soon (they asked me to make them one as a prototype). The lights are Denali, but I have some similar ones on my other bike that are also good - made by Rigid.
@Speelbird3 жыл бұрын
Nice to hear that about the Screen, I also have the AS Mini Fairing and thought about why there isnt a transparent Version of it. Ragearding the Compass: I also use DMD 2.0 on my Android but if I want to set the Widget I cant choose any Compass, I thought you have maybe some additional App from which I could choose this Widget.

I strongly do not recommend to use this product. I have bought it and I think it is way to expensive for what it is. The support of t he company is terrible. They do not answer and the dealers they give the feeling that the problems are never seen before. The terminal has a incredible consumption of the tablet and the loading pincs of the cradle do not charge the tablet en enough. In order to solve that they have connected a direct charging cable but the connector the use for this I believe is not the correct one, and even this is not working so at this moment I can not use the cable. Do not understand why they have made their own GPS software on this terminal. If I use the tablet and then switch it of after reaching destination I need to restart the Tablet each time again to regain GPS Fix. So for me a no go and really pitty I bought this product.
