IMPORTANT MEW DISCLAIMER: if you go for the glitch mew in virtual console keep in mind you will need to reset the save file an absurd number of times for the correct trainer ID and name yourself GF so it matches the official distribution mew from the original games. If not it will not transfer to home and unless you want your OT to be GF for everything, I'd recommend making an exception for mew if you can't get it from a pokeball plus.

The fact that you have to jump through so many hoops for the mythicals and even then you can't fully complete the living dex without both spending tons of time and money on old games and waiting on the good grace of the pokemon company to hand out certain pokemon is why I'm personally sticking to doing my living dex in gen 5 exclusively through emulators. Through a mix of glitches, dns, and distribution cart roms, it's even possible to do an origin dex there. Maybe I'll end up doing that.

I started doing a similar challenge back when sword and shield came out, with an extra challenge being I want to get every alternate form and also getting everything in Pokeballs. I’ve been working on it on and off ever since. I was sort of getting burnt out after doing BdSp and Legends Arceus back to back, but I saw your original documentary back in August and it gave me a huge burst of motivation to keep going. All I have left to do now is Johto and Hoenn and then I’ll finally be done. Long live King Ricky!

While I definitely respect keeping your OT the same across the board, I’m doing something a little different; naming the trainer after the version of the game they’re in. Ex: FRLF OTs are Akairo and Midori (Japanese for Red and Green), HGSS are Aurum and Argenta (Latin for Gold and Silver) and so on with a different language. My head canon is basically I’m the Pokémon Avatar and reincarnate into a new body every new game lol.

Wolf about a year ago I was doing the Bird Keeper Toby Pokémon Home Master Dex challenge but it was so complicated and expensive but I still have that desire to complete the Pokédex after all these years. I took a year off from playing bc I got burnt out but now I’m back into it and your videos inspired me to do your origin dex so I just wanted to say thank you. I’m going to get the DS and 3DS games out of the way first before Nintendo shuts down support then move onto the switch games

Duckworth! I’ve been making a living Pokédex of my own. So far I’m almost finished with Gen 3. I completed Gen1, Gen2 and working through Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. I'm currently starting this journey with four differences: 1. Rule 2 is appended: The final evolutions of starters, fossils, version exclusive and trade evolutions can have different OTs. This is also because I have siblings that also played Pokémon but now dont, so I'm doing as if we traded eachother - also nice to preserve their names in this way. 2. Not only do the Pokémon have to be from the original region, they also have to come from the original game the region was introduced in - no remakes (apart from Gen 1 and 2 remakes ofc) 3. Only Pokéballs can be used. 4. You have to finish as much of the Pokédex as possible BEFORE you beat the champion. This gives it a bit more challenge but also a bit more fun. Its also nice to see the final time in the Hall of Fame and knowing that thats how long it took you to "catch them all". The easiest region you can complete this way is obviously Unova, as there are no duplicates like in all the other Gens. I finished that some time ago and now, I'm going to go through all the rest starting with Hoenn. It's already daunting but I know that at the end, I will have an origin dex I can look back to and be proud of.

The Mew glitch in Gen 1 works to catch a Mew…but it is not transferable to pokemon bank. So if you absolutely need a Mew from Kanto…you’re gonna want that Pokeball Plus in Let’s Go

There is a glitch you can perform that tricks the game into thinking that the Gen 1 3ds vc mew is a gamefreak event mew, i was able to do that and transfer my mew to pokemon home.

It will if you do a glitch called 8f I think to change it trainer Id to gf’s one from an event and then it will transfer out

I remember watching your original video 2 years ago. Saw this is the latest video you posted over 10 months ago. I also hate how mythical Pokémon just get tied into timed events. They should each have their own quest at the end of the story to be able to catch them. Recently the Teal Mask came out and there is a side quest to catch a Bloodmoon Ursaluna. It’s super fun and interesting and should be the standard on catching mythicals even though it is not one. Or heck, they did it in Legends Arceus. Can’t figure out why GF won’t just do that for future games. Also, holding out hope that all GBA, DS, and 3DS games get a switch port that eliminates all these extra costs and steps.

You can actually still receive most event pokemon from gen 4 too, Using the fan dns connection you can download and receive those events, no cheating device required. (Dosent work for gens 6, 7,)

you actually just need one of scarlet or violet since you can go online and get version exclusive spawns in your own game. The only thing is the box cover legendary, but I've traded with someone since you get an extra in the post game. So no worries

Heads Up you can not transfer the gltched mew from gen 1 unless you duplicate the OT name and CODE of the event mew nintendo gave out in japan, however this is still not legit since people know you cant get a mew in gen 1. So the only legitamite mew that says from kanto would be the poke ball plus one. However you can buy the japanese one new and it will be an english mew if connected to an english game.

Just so you know, getting a Mew from Gen 1 VC is impossible since you cant transfer it up with your OT. You need the Poke Ball plus or a Mew from JP Emerald (name limit is five characters).

Would chime in for 4th Gen that the Pokémon Diamond void glitches allows you to catch shaymin, darkrai and Arceus AND allows you to transfer them up to bank and to home BARRING the requirements, there’s videos out there that explain it more but yeah. Good luck y’all!

Love what you did here. Your let's go Pikachu and Eevee spot had a few errors. You can't breed pokemon in Let's Go, and the mew glitch from the virtual console can't have your OT and be transferred up, sadly. I personally have been doing something kind of similar when first inspired by the toby bird keeper challenge. But I'm not buying a GameCube or any Gamecube games for stupid amounts of money, looking around for those items really burnt me out on that challenge because I did not want to own or play those games.

Funnily enough I just found this video and am doing exactly this but as a Form Dex (all forms including gender differences and stuff - in general everything that can be separately put into Home), so I had to speedrun Omega Ruby 3 times for 3 extra Deoxys...) because for some of the Pokémon that is *big* effort I relaxed my rule of origin regions for a few forms (e.g. ! and ? Unown, I *could* play HGSS but I'm not buying another Pokémon game and playing through Johto again and catch all forms *again* just for these. Furfrou forms I will not get with my OT except the ones I can get in my Pokemon Go region and so on. Same with Vivillion because I am not going through that - both the PokeGo method and trading with people for eggs sounds like torture, trading for the forms normally is bad enough). The OT is also more important than the region to me, so Jirachi comes from BDSP and Keldeo from SwSh. Also the weather trio from Unova I'm using Dream Radar because I'm not playing through BW twice each. And I am not getting more than 2 Zygardes from Kalos. They *can* come from Kalos but that's effort. So with small changes (that I can later fix I guess if I get super motivated) you can also do the form dex like this if you're so inclined. But glad there's other people out there doing this. I started (very slowly) when the 3DS closure was announced, then got lazy because it wasn't a hard time limit and now got into it again. Thankfully Bank isn't shutting down yet but I figured I'd better get on it before they get any ideas. Also same on missing the BDSP and SwSh events despite playing it. I'm trying to stay on top more with SV, we'll see if it works. I feel you...

Arceus and the Azure Flute is available in DPPt if you have a DSi and an android phone using a mobile hotspot. I was able to get Arceus, Shaymin, and Darkrai in Platinum using the same DNS hack that gives you the Mythicals in Gen 5

It is exactly what I'm planning to do, with almost every game possible to me with my homebrew 3ds (aka only one version for the 3ds games due to space and ignoring Switch till I have them). It will be impossible for me to have mythicals legally, but otherwise I'm planning on playing and beating every single version of the games (with maybe after completing my living dex, completing the dex in all the versions too). Unfortunately last time i did one was...semi legal, so for a fully legit one...I've barely started RBY.
