The movie Coogan's Bluff would later be the 1970s TV show McCloud with Dennis Weaver playing a Marshal from Taos, New Mexico. I remember watching McCloud, and they often think that he is from Arizona, Oklahoma, or Texas.

Washington, D.C. is divided into taxi "zones." Instead of paying by the meter, you pay a fixed amount to ride within a zone, and fixed amounts to ride from say, zone one to zone three.. Gives the driver an incentive to take the fastest route.

That was the old chinook shuttle service from the airport to midtown Manhattan. They re-introduced it temporarily in the late 1970s but withdrew the service permanetly when one crashed. No way they'd run it over the city these days anyway, especially after the 9 / 11 disaster,

The opening scene was a nice bit of vanished NYC history. When there used to be a heli-taxi from JFK to various buildings, including the Pan-Am building. It was halted in 1968 due to low volume, then restarted in 1977 for a few months before a serious accident finished the concept for good.

0:03 Wide shot of Midtown Manhattan. To the left, Empire State Bldg. to the right of that, with the white spirals, the Chrysler Bldg. Just to the right of that, the PanAm Bldg. with the NY Airways heliport on top. Then just before the chopper lands, you see the Chrysler bldg's spire go by really close, next thing you are on the top of the PanAm bldg. Sadly, the Big Apple was already pretty awful back in late 1967, when Eastwood filmed this flick there. Just imagine how awaful it is now in 2025. BTW, in the 70s you could fly on the chopper one-way for $7.50 or $8.00.

Same old thing, everyone assumes that because you wear a cowboy hat & boots you gotta come from Texas, NO! Sorry to spoil it for you but not everyone in Texas speaks with a southern drawl or wears boots, cowboys hats & own ranches & cows. A lot of us actually drive cars & own homes! Who knew?!?!

I have driven the length of Texas. I saw a lot of cowboy hats and boots but not a single cow or horse.

It's short of stupidity that the person who posted this clip titles it as "A Southern Sheriff Goes to New York City" when in the very clip Eastwood's character says he's from Arizona, which is in the west, or at least southwest.
