Before i found out about your rescue beaver project, i started donating to exotic bird rescues (so many heartbreaking situations), and i have created my own bird and squirrel paradise in my yard which is now costing me $1,000 per month in irrigation water bills and our local sanitation district. Plus, there’s the cost of all the bird and squirrel food. I’ll donate what i can because i very much believe in your project. Beavers, as their cousins, remind me so much of squirrels (and other rodents). Such under appreciated beings.

I can’t even count how much $ I have spent on all the wildlife in my area, rescuing, creating sanctuaries for them on my property. Thankfully I have neighbors who are supportive and patient. However I have started scale back as I now am older, live alone and have no one who can step in if I can no longer do this for any reason so that they are more self-sufficient and/or rehoming ones that really can’t live 100% in the wild without some help.

In early April the squirrel I was feeding and protecting for almost a year and a half passed away. She was killed by a car. I mourned. I blamed myself for feeding her too much since she'd constantly scurry across the street to bury her cache. I did protect her from a couple of neighborhood cats. Soon after that Paxton the prairie dog passed away. Then in another shock Petunia passed away which was then followed by Phabeni the baby elephant with HERD passing away. It's been a rough year for our little friends. When Tulip had the skin infection I would fear the worst waiting for an update. I'm so glad she survived. So now it's a nameless male squirrel I feed that's scared of me, Poppy the prairie dog in Florida and her morning yahoos, Khanyisa the snare rescue at HERD in South Africa that's still growing, and of course, our sweetheart, Tulip in Mississippi. And I shouldn't forget our new masked friends Frodo and Sam.

I would like to applaud you and the others for this very special kindness that you are showing towards the beavers. From the late forties until the early eighties my parents had remote cottage that we went to every summer frequently. It was a cabin and not a cottage so quite remote. We used to dip for minnows for fishing as they frequented the area around the beaver houses. I have never seen a beaver out of water so this is a special treat. The beavers were so plentiful that some cottagers wrapped the bottom of the poplar trees with tarpaper or chicken paper. I have never heard a beaver except for the slap of their tail on the water so I didn't realize how vocal the can be. Sounds like a dog or cat. Thank you.
